Yay...love it

Shinyshoes1 · 24/05/2012 14:07

I love it too !!

cupofteaplease · 24/05/2012 14:09

It's my dd2's name, and it's still my favourite name out of all my dds! But I like the fact that there aren't many Mabels around, so don't choose it, please!! Wink

Lunarlyte · 24/05/2012 14:40

Yes, I like it very much :)

BillyBollyBandy · 24/05/2012 14:43

Not for me, I like "old lady" names but this is too frumpy for me. Although my grandmother was Mabel so that may have effected my perception.

chocoroo · 24/05/2012 14:43

I know a little one born about 3 months ago. Hipster parents.

Faverolles · 24/05/2012 14:44

Love it. Was top of my list but dh vetoed it.

Bellakins · 24/05/2012 14:58

Sorry, don't like it. Seems an ugly name to me. Sort of like Gertrude.

Psammead · 24/05/2012 14:59

I saw Maybell recently and thought it looked prettier. No idea if it's an established name or a madey-uppy.

squoosh · 24/05/2012 15:16

Nay

Lunarlyte · 24/05/2012 15:28

I think Mabel sounds like a fairy - although I don't know I'd it means this ...

"Amiable and loving. A dear companion"

:) Beautiful :)

talkingnonsense · 24/05/2012 15:29

I only like May-belle, the sound is pretty but the look is plain iyswim.

shottspar · 24/05/2012 15:30

I love it. It makes me think about the TV show "Mad About You". They said on the show that it stood for Mothers Always Bring Extra Love. Beautiful Grin

rachel234 · 24/05/2012 15:53

I'm not keen. I prefer more feminine looking/sounding names for girls.

Positiveplus · 24/05/2012 16:16

Not keen - I knew of a cat called Mabel!

Dont mind older style names but prefer things like Martha, Matilda, Madeline.

redrubyshoes · 24/05/2012 16:19

I am not sure. I put it with the name Myrtle................there is a certain charm there but.......................?

EchoBitch · 24/05/2012 16:23

Mabel is awful..even my Mother hates it and it's her middle name and she is old.

It is as bad as Brenda which is my Auntie's name.

EchoBitch · 24/05/2012 16:24

Myrtle the turtle.

Trestle · 24/05/2012 17:00

A nay from me, sorry.

YouFloatLikeAFeather · 24/05/2012 17:40

Lovely

WithACherryOnTop · 24/05/2012 17:52

Nay.It's horrid.

lilybeansmummy · 24/05/2012 18:18

sorry but its a old woman name, cant imagine any teenager appreciating having that name!

nocake · 24/05/2012 18:27

My grandma was Mabel and so is DD. It's a lovely name. We know another Mabel of the same age so it is returning as a popular name.

Clawdy · 25/05/2012 16:37

Reminds me of The Wilfred Pickles Show on the radio when I was little.."What's on the table,Mabel?" said in broad Yorkshire. Can't like it,sorry.

MacaroniPie · 25/05/2012 18:38

It will be as common as Violet and Ivy this time next year. Every hipster is on this one.
