Is this a known spelling of Felix? Have never seen it before. DH thinks is either a mis-spelling on his iphone or on purpose and is just ridiculous and made up. I couldn't say one way or another. Please enlighten me, I need to write the card!

Ha ha I'm so glad you are not asking if people think this is a good idea for a name! Is there anyone else that you could check with? If not I would go with Phelix as to appear to be correcting the spelling would look very rude whereas a "bloody autocorrect" could be laughed at.

Phelix seems to be some kind of encryption device. Are you meant to be congratulating someone on the birth of a baby or development of some new technology?

I'd go with Felix - you won't be the first or the last, and with any luck if all the birth congratulation cards arrive with the proper spelling they might be in time to change the name before the child has to start a lifetime of 'correcting' people.

Just copy it straight; there's less chance for causing offence. Even if it is an auto-correct error or typo it could just as easily have been meant to be Phelim as Felix. According to Ancestry.co.uk however, there are 38 Phelixes on record for 2011 so it's certainly possible!

I have a real problem with Ph names - have always disliked Philip and Philippa, which is a pity for a girl's name as I think Pippa is a very pretty name, but I'd never name a child by the nn, I'd always want to give them the full name.

Would much prefer Philip if it became acceptable to use the Spanish spelling, Felipe.

So yes, Phelix is an abomination in my view.
