31 weeks gone & shortlisting our boys & girls names. We both really like Oban & Cael for the boys name & also the place Oban means alot to us both, what do you think?

Girls name either Evie, Gracie or Taylor?

Our surname is Farrell.

How do you pronounce Cael? I am Scottish so Oban is too ordinary for me, I am afraid. A bit like calling a child Essex.

I had a wee look at a map, and near/around Oban are the more name like, but equally lovely choices for boys:

Argyll

Coll

Creag

Connel

I really love Evie and Gracie, but Taylor is too unisex for me.

Congrats on your pregnany btw.

Oban is very nice. Not keen on Cael (sounds too much like a member of the cabbage family).

I like Evie and Gracie from your girls options but would have Eve/Evelyn/Evelina, or Grace, as full name.

Help is here! Well, my opinion anyway! Smile

Like Oban.

Don't know how to pronounce Cael. Confused

Like Evie (although very popular esp with Eve as well)

If Gracie I would name Grace and have Gracie as a nn. Can't see my solicitor or doctor being called Gracie.

Don't like Taylor. Know a Tayla. Don't like that either.

Thanks all, I'm new to MN, so thought I would put it forward to get honest feedback. Sometimes friends & family smile at all names you suggest, which can leave you a bit
Hmm. Will take all on board. :)

Oban and Cael are both really lovely. Think I prefer Oban tbh.

Evie is lovely, but very popular at the minute.

I adore the name Grace, would use Gracie only as a nickname while shes little - please dont put Gracie on birth cert - too twee for a grown woman.

Dont like Taylor at all, Im afraid.

Love Oban. Would get used to Cael if I met someone with that name. Evie and Gracie both nice, not keen on Taylor, sorry.

I don't really like Oban, and would pronounce Cael in the AngloSaxon way (chayll).

Evie and Gracie are very popular names at the moment - from your boy's name choice, is that what you're really after. I'm sorry but I can't stand Taylor.

To be honest our name list is constantly changing, DH & I can only agree on a few names! Never actually realised how popular the name Evie is. We both liked the name Lana until I spelled it backwards Shock.
Did you all have a shortlist or did you just know when you held DS/DD in your arms?

As you like Lana, how about Linnea?

I don't know how to say "Oban"...is it Oban kind of like open...or Oban as in rhymes with "oh van"?

I kinda like them...

Me being a geek however, automatically was reminded of Star Wars and Superman Hmm Grin

Don´t like Oban-isn´t it a deoderant?

Would Cael sound anything like Kyle?-if so don´t like that either.

Like Grace and Eve/Eva, don´t like Taylor.
