What name would you have called DD if a friend hadnt used it first

I would like to add Iola (welsh name pronounced Yola)to my shortlist, however a good friend unintentionally beat me to, calling her DD Iola.

I'd like some inspiration, and would love to know what name you would have used, if it hadnt been taken by someone else.

Hmmm.

Ellen, I like, but prefer it spelt with one l - Elen. A friend has used this name as a middle name, assume still okay for me to use as first name. Have just added it to my list.

Edith, my mum would never forgive me. She hates old lady names.

Lola, she was a showgirl, with yellow feather's in her hair. Or if you prefer the Kinks song she's a he. Lovely name, but too many associations for me.

Erin, I like but I'm concerned about it being too popular. Also dont think it quite sounds right with surname (begins with a g).

Keep up the suggestions.

Thanks

Not a friend but BIL and SIL named their daughter Orla which is one of my fave names.

Komondor - are you still undecided on that girls's name??

You loved Caroline for weeks but now you have scrapped that name so why not go with Ffion which was your other favourite.

From all the other threads you have done I never saw Iola on them, i thought you were loving Cara at the minute?

When the babe is born you will know what to call her and it could still be a boy in which case you love Stephen so you are sorted.

BTW my DD name has been mentioned above by someone and since i chose it (before any friends were pregnant or even thinking of names) one friend said she would have loved her DD called that but couldn't because of me. I said she could have done as i would be proud, so if you like Iola use it Smile

Isobel. My sister called one of her miscarried twins this so can't have it myself.

Jasmine. And we've only seen said friend once in 4 years grrr.
I prefer the name we went with anyway

Emily... cousin nicked it first (and I miscarried anyway). Never taught a bad Emily!

Got presented with a list of names SIL's reserved that I can't use as well - that amused me since they're ones I HATE (and the cheek of it all).

It's not quite the same but I love Imogen and would have used it for DD except that it is DSIL's name. It's a shame as I think it's really pretty.
