Not keen but it is not popular either so could be a different choice!

I love it :) it was on a shortlist for DC2 but we've got our names sorted now.

I love it, always have.

Lovely name.

Its gorgeous! Its my DD's name, and we love it. She is called Delphy most of the time. Go for it. Delph / Delphy is cute for a little girl, and I think Delphine is elegnat for an older girl / woman.

Make that elegant, not elegnat!

Lovely - love Delphie/Delphy as a nn.

It just makes me think of Delphine Donkey from Pepper Pig.

I do like the name in itself, though.

Yes makes me think of a French donkey.

I really like it, was on list for dd.

I love love love it. It was on my short list for dd (along with Aurelia and Flora) - all 3 were vetoed by dh Angry. It was 11 years ago, and I'm over it now (lie)

I really like, never really thought of it before but definitely has a nice ring to it.

Echoing the Peppa Pig sentiment a little bit and if I'm honest I do like it but I think un peu pretentieuse if you are not French, though!

Love Delphine, on my list too! Delphie is a sweet nn. Another one rejected by DP (sigh)

I loved it before I saw Peppa Pig. I still love it but the first thing that comes to mind is Delphine Donkey.

Report
FairyArmadillo · 07/11/2010 17:34

But I have seen too much Peppa Pig so ignore me.

Report
pirateparty · 07/11/2010 17:36

Ahhh sorry another one who thinks of Peppa Pig, but Peppa Pig won't be around forever.

spanky2 · 07/11/2010 17:38

Again, delphine donkey. But my son is called Milo. How many times do I get asked if I named him after a tweenie? In afew years time who will know peppa pig as our children will have grown out of it.

I like it. Makes me think of delphinium.

Report
earlgreyismynectar · 07/11/2010 18:27

I think it's the French for Delphinium, I have a soft spot for flower names for girls and this one is a little out of the ordinary

She might get called Dolphin

Report

Just had a conversation with my 5 yr old Delphy - no one, young or old, has ever mentioned Delphine Donkey to her! And neither does she get called Dolphin! Think your pretty safe there...
