Here's the shortlist of baby names I'm considering, husbands surname is double barrelled and begins with L. Favourite first names are Wilbur Rupert for a boy and Loveday Matilda for a girl.

Boys
Archie
Artie
Rupert
Wilbur

Girls
Beatrice
Beatrix
Daisy
Loveday
Matilda
Milly
Olive
Poppy

Any ideas on back up combinations?

Archie - OK
Artie - a bit awkward to say
Rupert - not my taste although nothing wrong with it
Wilbur - I like this, it's quite unusual but still sounds a good traditional name

Beatrice - like
Beatrix - Potter, not so keen
Daisy - like
Loveday - too surnamey for my taste, sorry
Matilda - again, not my taste but many people like it
Milly - like

How about Beatrice Daisy or Archie Wilbur?

I like Rupert and Wilbur - both lovely classic traditional names that aren't overused.

Archie/Artie are too childish/trendy for me.

I like Beatrice and Beatrix from your girls names.

Archie and Artie I consider nicknames, would you use a full name on birth certificate?
Rupert gets shortened to Roo which is a bit feminine (knew one called this).
Wilbur shortened to Will is nice, as long as you don't mind that it was the name of the pig in charlotte's web.

Milly also sounds like a nickname.
Agree with Oz on Loveday. Also, think it's just too open to teasing - sorry!
I like Beatrice or Matilda from your girl's names.

Wilbur Rupert is good, but with a double barrelled surname a one syllable middle might work better?
Something like Wilbur John?

Same with girls names, too many syllables?

Archie - OK.
Artie - Not keen.
Rupert - Wet, nice but dim type name.
Wilbur - Top from your list, Wil is a good shortening.

Not keen on any of the boys names.
Love matilda and Beatrice.

Not keen on any of boys names either I'm afraid Blush. Archie is way too popular for me at the moment, and can see wilbur being willy as a not so nice nickname at school.

Of the girls names, I like Matilda and Beatrice best. I think Matilda could be Milly for short, so that way you get to use both of those.

Think Matilda Loveday works better - Loveday is a wonderful name, would use it myself but surname sounds like a day of the week, so too many `days' it would just sound awkward.

Not too keen on Wilbur, I can't get over the pig thing. Also think Orville when hearing Wilbur (and for a British person, Orville is a very very bad thing indeed Smile)

What about Crispin, Rupert Crispin??
