I'm thinking of changing my ds's name. This was one I originally liked but was too scared to use.
I'd just like to know what people think of this name.
Thanks

it's liam at the moment. it was a last minute choice due to lack of viable alternatives. i never really liked it and now the more i think about it the more i think it'll be bad for him. :(

How can a perfecty ordinary straighforward name like Liam be "bad" for him?

Neo is truly awful, honestly.

It's awful.
Are you a big fan of The Matrix?

It's one of the worst names I've ever heard - you cannot call him after a Keanu Reeves character in a popular film

Liam is at least a normal name.

Liam is lovely. If you want to change it, make it William so he has more choices for nicknames. Neo sounds like it's an abbreviation, not a name (neo-natal, neo-Nazi etc)

If you never liked Liam why did you use it? Surely there are plenty of other names you could use? It's a massive jump to Neo, Liam is a normal name and personally I think Neo is a silly made up name for the matrix! (Don;t know if that's true, but I don't think will be the only one to presume your are using it because of the matrix!)

You don't remember the matrix?! It's not that old!!

tapan · 01/09/2010 13:27

he's a few months old. i just think it's cute and not traditional, and apparently it's popular in sweden or one of those scandanavian countries not that i'm concerned about his name being popular (unless it's very popular)

DS1's best friend is called Neo, lovely boy, very friendly, polite, popular, easy going and afaik no issue has ever been made of his name by any of the other children at school (just going into yr3 now).
Personally I don't really like the name but if you really like it then why not?!
Should point out I live in Somerset and most of his school friends have names like George or Tyler or Lewis or Harry, its not somewhere where unusual names are commonplace!

It's an ancient greek name. It wasn't invented for the matrix film. I like it. But I didn't use it because I already have a Noah.

I guess people shouldn't use the name Luke because of Luke Skywalker either. Is there an eye roll smiley face?

I thought you were going to say he was a few days old.

I think at a few months old it would be confusing to change his name as everyone will just continue to call him Liam as it's what they're used to.

I think Neo's a bit of a leap from Liam, does he have a middle name?

Isit an Ancient Greek name, or is it an Ancient Greek word, meaning 'new'? It's not really the same as Luke which is a name going back to the Bible. Will gladly stand corrected on this, but still think Liam is much better name to grow up and grow old with than Neo.
