Which is nicer?

Right so am expecting DC2 in December and it is probably a girl (not 100% as the sonographer couldn't get a good look)

DP and I can agree on 2 girls' names

Eleanor and Evelyn.

If we go for Eleanor I will use Rose as the middle name (after my gran) I'm not so sure about a middle name to go with Evelyn.

Anyway just after a bit of feedback as to which name the ladies of MN prefer :)

DS was going to be Evelyn if he was a girl. I still think its a lovely name, though very popular (well, Evie is). Middle name was going to be Pamela (after a dear friend).

Think they both work with Rose though :)

I think that Eleanor Rose is a lovely name, and more timeless than Evelyn.

Eleanor Rose here too. I'm not as keen on Evelyn at all.

Eleanor is a beautiful name and I prefer it over Evelyn (also nice!)

Eleanor Rose.

Not keen on Evelyn as I don´t like unisex names.

I prefer Eleanor, although they're much of a muchness to my ear. But - really not understanding why you'd have to ditch Rose if you went with Evelyn? Confused

Just because you think it goes perfectly with Eleanor, doesn't mean it doesn't also go well with Evelyn. And especially since you're choosing it as a way to remember your Gran, :)

I love both but I think I prefer Evelyn as less popular and more old-fashioned, but both are gorgeous names, and Rose goes lovely with both.

eleanor is lovely - there are lots of ellies around but fewer eleanors that i know of - on the other hand evelyn has eve as a nn which is also becoming quite popular. but both go well with rose.

Eleanor much nicer, imo. I love Eve, but Evelyn not so much.

Both are lovely, prefer Eleanor, as long as it doesn't get shortened to Ellie - sounds naff

Both go with Rose nicely.

Gorgeous name.

Eleanor is very popular at the moment.

I'd go for Evelyn Rose.
