I've spent ages knitting it and it looks good, now I need to sew it up as neatly as possible.

Any advice, tips would be welcome Thanks

Graft the seams together and using stitch markers 'pin' the pieces together first, so its evenly spaced.

Pin it and use mattress stitch to see it together.

If you are picking up stitches for button bands and neck bands then divide the stitches evenly and use pins to mark out the sections so that they are enemy distributed. For example if you need to pick up 40 stitches for a band then fold the length in half and place a pin in the fold. Then fold in half again on each side and place pins - so you have divided the length into quarters. In each quarter you pick up a quarter of the required stitches - 10 in this example.

Buy nice buttons that either match well or contrast properly. Sew on the buttons with matching thread.
