Found them in my stash...they have no purpose yet.

Any costume ideas for them? I thought maybe Belle for dd1 but I don't think they're gold-yellow enough iyswim.

(yes, I realise I have a gazillion projects on the go, it keeps me busy Grin )

Grin That may get me a Hmm from the girls!

I'm going to run them through the washer tomorrow and have a think while they're in view on the line.

Minions? Or is that not quite their thing?

Belle was the first thing that sprung to my mind too.

Flower fairies?

Marie Antoinette? Or any lady of that time.

I would go for a Tudor court type costume I think. You could alter one of the patterns on the Cinderella pattern if you have bought it yet. I made a lovely Tudor lady costume from that pattern.

I also made a really nice kirtle with a free download from Hampton Court,

www.hrp.org.uk/resources/instructions_girlskirtle.pdf

I made it in 'proper' stuff for a reenactment but you could make a lovely dressing up costume using that pattern. It was really lovely, the shoulder seams happen down the back rather than on the shoulder which looked really nice in the finished garment.

It came out small though, big enough for a slim 8 year old but nowhere near 9-11 or whatever they said on the download.

They like Minions, not sure they'd go for dress up ones though. Both girls are very into princesses atm.

lavender, I haven't bought the pattern yet, will be waiting a while at this rate Sad

I could just make a generic "princess" dress with flouncy bits.

Lucysmam, simplicity patterns are currently half price at the minute, I have seen the reductions in JL and in my independent sewing shop so if you have a stockist nearby you might get it for £2.80.

The only local place for patterns only stocks New Look ones but thanks lavender, I'll get it eventually...just a bit skint this month.

Shame there isn't anyone nearby. I have got three costumes to make myself in the next month, one for a Tudor reenactment and two Tauriel style dresses, am using the Hampton court thing again and simplicity 1347. I like making costumes, no pressure to be stitch perfect ... And I use the rolled hem foot before sewing seams if I can.

I have the cheap foot I linked yesterday in my amazon basket too to have a go with. Elsa dresses will be done before I get it but dd2 has a request list as long as my arm so I'll have plenty of opportunities to try it out.
