Looking for a dress pattern

I am trying to find a dress pattern for sewing a dress like this:

www.ebay.de/itm/Wie-neu-JAKO-O-Jeanskleid-152-158-dark-blue-superschon-/391085085397?pt=DE_M%C3%A4dchen_Besondere_Anl%C3%A4sse_Kleider&hash=item5b0e7cd2d5

The dress pictured is a children's dress and I would like to sew an adult version, probably without the elastic round the bottom. Has anyone seen anything similar?

Thanks a lot!

Have you checked Vogue/Simplicity/McCalls/New Look online?

Not quite the same but I have recently bought these two patterns which I like - sort of in a similar vein.

Thanks - I've had a browse through them but haven't found anything quite right - they are all either pleated or A-line and I really want that curved shape (i.e. out over the hips and in a bit to the bottom hemline) in my pic.

Is that called 'tulip' shaped? Not sure.

It is really hard when you want something specific and can't find it. Would you be confident enough to alter a pattern?

That is what I would do if I needed something I couldn't find.

yes that's exactly what it's called - that may help me search for a pattern better. (I knew there was a word I couldn't remember for it, so thanks!) No way I could alter a pattern, I am very new to this!!!

OK have just found this pattern based on searching for tulip dress:

www.sewdifferent.co.uk/tulip-dress-colourblock-free-sewing-pattern-lc010/

This might kind of do it but would I be able to make this in a sort of light denim / chambray material?

I think so, in fact I have some lovely chambray here that I would use (the fabric I had in mind for the M & M pattern I linked to). I wouldn't do it in anything more heavy than a medium weight linen.

Good luck, it looks like a straightforward project Grin.

Thanks again Lavendersun - you seem to know your stuff ... so I will try a follow up question. Do you think this pattern would work with a lightish denim material even though it says it is for knit fabrics? (Not-got-a-clue-alert!)

Not sure to be honest - not sure 'I know my stuff', I learnt to sew with my mother a long time ago so have never been taught 'properly', BUT am always been willing to have a go Grin.

I would e-mail them and ask them or buy an old curtain/tablecloth from a charity shop and have a go in something that doesn't matter that is a similar weight.

The armholes may prove problematic with a woven that has no stretch in that pattern. You could insert a zipper in the back, but I do think you will struggle otherwise.

This doesn't have the pockets or fancy pants pleats but has no zip and is designed for light wovens

Tangerine that pattern is great, thank you!

In the meantime I have also found this:

which I also quite like. I think I may go for yours actually.
