Altering a knitting pattern

I managed to get my head round knitting these little lovelies but would like to make smaller ones. If I reduce the number of stitches I cast on (I'll not be doing the patterns so don't need to worry about that) and reduce the number of rows would that work?

I'll need to keep it so that the heel and toe shaping work but would casting on 15 instead of 25 be too much of a reduction? How many rows do you think I could reduce it by?

I thought I'd ask the knitting gurus on MN rather than have a go because as much as I'm enjoying knitting them I'm not keen on unravelling if it doesn't work Wink

Try 4ply and smaller needles?

Ditto the smaller needles and wool. However if you can't do that, then use a swatch to work out how big many stitches you need for the size you want.

I need to add that I don't do that, just use trial and error!

There are numerous free patterns for mini socks on ravelry. Just look for some in the size you want

Thank you, I'll have a look at Ravelry. The needles are already small but I can try thinner wool.

Thanks all Smile
