The carnival cart should be ready and on the way to Axminster! YAY!

Almost finished the sequins on Sam's costume, he doesn't really know the dance yet though- neither do I so I'm no help

Stirling's costume completed (not by me!)

DH left at 12.30 to do the wiring, back - ooohhhh mid day tomorrow, to pick us up?
he loves it though

Wish us luck, this is the best entry we've ever amde and it's make or break financially for us

PeachyC can you just explain to thicky me what exactly this carnival thing is again ?? I remember seeing some pics of floats all lit up. I assume you are involved in putting it all together. Why is this one make or break ?

Nothing like that happens round our neck of the woods !

it's amnke or break for us coz we need some prize money if we are to continue! It's got to the stage of costing us about £5K a year, which is pennies compared to the big clubs (£65K on one Dh worked on), but we're only a small family club.

The carnivals date back to the Gy fawkes, the first parade was on the night itself- itn is said to celebrate the plot failing, that's not right- they thought it had gone off fine. There are lots of clubs around devon and somerset (biggest in Ilminster and Bridgwater mainly), hey build a float each and parade it around, the floats are up to 100ft long, with tractor and generator, and have up to 30K bulbs on each. Ours is about that size but nothing like that many bulbs- DH reckons 2k this year! Dh is electrician for the club.

The kids love the aprades (we do the smaller ones, the biggest ones last 4 hours plus so we might do it next year if kids up to it) as they get to dance and compete for the cups. So far we have won zilch. oops

Will geta link

cool - they look amazing!! So I take it that the club fundraises to get the money to build them. You then take your clubs float round the local carnivals & hope to pick up prize money. Just shown DS - he was very impressed with the chinese dragon
