need a beginners scrapbook kit -where do I buy?

daisy1999 · 13/09/2006 20:46

I want to do a scrapbook for my mum's birthday but I have never scrapbooked before. I don't want to do a massive amount and I will only be doing the one so I need an all inclusive easy kit. Anybody have a recommendation and/or any ideas for the book?

Tesco had some kits that had everything in them I think. Why don't you have a look there. i'm sure they weren't too dear either.

do crafts have a scrapbook goody pack that has an 8x8 album, papers and lots of bitz in like an ink pad, a punch and lots more all for £14.99. you need to go to a docrafts stockist they have online stockist aswell.

papermania do one too, also by docrafts you can get in local store and argos too

why has my post been deleted????

Report

i emailed MN to ask and here is the reply ....

Dear Auntyquated,

We deleted your earlier post after complaints from other members regarding unauthorised advertising of Little Cottage Crafts. As you may or may not know, there have been issues in the past regarding the somewhat over-zealous promotion of this company via the Mumsnet Talk Boards. Whilst we do appreciate that this may well not have been your intention, we do want to be fair to everyone so we would be grateful if you?d bear in mind that the small business ads is the appropriate place for advertising.

Best wishes,

Abby
Team Mumsnet

this makes me so ---the bit that really gets to me is "after complaints from other members"

well thanks girls!

iirc - this is the fisrt time i have linked to this company. but i am ready to be corrected.

try hobbycraft if there is one near you.

FGS

I've linked to them before, along with likely a hundred other places!

I do remember a while back, there was someone on here for maybe two days said she was setting up something similar to LCC- why do I suspect her???? May be wroong I suppose.

Not the first time there's been dodgy gings on on the A&C threads apparently. I got caught up in the last one, seems a shame.

how ridiculous.... this thread suggests many suppliers - tesco, wh smith, do crafts, hobby craft!!! To be fair, these should be deleted too.

Report
champs · 15/09/2006 16:26

am a little taken back to be honest, as you say kiwibella, there are mentions of other places here.

I wonder why anyone would complain, it's not as tho we're advertising just recomending stuff. It's a shame because we wont be able to share news of sites that have sales, offers etc.

I wonder if we can reach some sort of agreement where everyone can be happy.

sorry aq I didn't want to get anyone into trouble, perhaps I shouldn't ask for help in the future
It's a bit difficult to answer my question without suggesting a retailer

I decided to CAT you Daisy with a couple of places of interest. BUT I sent it to the wrong person noticed the thingy at the top about unsolicited advertising in emails. So although I have emailed the recipient to tell them that I made a mistake, I shall probably get into strife for telling anyone about anything so don't worry about it.

BTW did you get anything in the end?

Daisy a good port of call for looking for anything scrap related is Top 50 Scrappers

or \linj{http://scrapbooking.toplisted.net/\Top 50 Scrapping Sites}

There are loads to chose from and many will have starter kits that you can buy with the album, papers and embellishments included. Most start at around £20 so you can get a lovely scrapbook put together without having to spend a fortune.

I wont link you to any specific products because it appears to annoy a couple of members of MN....specially if they come from my store! LOL!!

FGS!!!!! Why should other MNs complain just because a company is well liked, well used, effecient and can offer a great service and a friendly forum!!!!
There are plenty of other companies out there doing the same admittedly, but why should LCC be put down to please a few and by doing so disgruntle so many others. Obviously these memebers have so little in their lives to worry or complain about....please if you need something else to fulfil your lives...I need all the help I can get trying to get my daughter (who has Down Syndrome) some classroom support, fighting the LEA and going to tribunal.

And there was me thinking that crafting was all about relaxing and enjoying...how silly of me!

Read quickly...this message will self distruct.

I need:

  1. an album (thinking of 8" x 8")acid and ligin free.
  2. Page covers (are these clear protectors?)
  3. Do I need card and papers? How do I make a page? Do I use card or paper or both?
  4. embellishments
  5. acid free glue or tape -which is best?
