Help needed to find an embellishment !

bettythebuilder · 30/07/2006 14:14

I have searched and searched for a couple of embellishments that I thought would be easy to find, but seem to have the rarity value of hens teeth...
Has anyone seen a) An apple (whole or bitten!)
b) a bunch of grapes
Preferably in metal or wood, or a nice thick fabric (I don't ask much, do I?!)
Any help with this would be much appreciated. I've scoured the web, with no luck, so hope that someone has stumbled across something suitable in their browsings.

one purple cow does metal embellies... have you tried her? Not sure if they are what you're looking for but she provides a great service too.

I've had a quick look at that site (it's not one I've tried before, thanks pol26) but can't find an apple or a bunch of grapes. The search continues...

Ah-ha, Champs. That's the first apple I've seen!
No, I haven't got a sizzix, but I could get one if the apple could be cut out out of thick enough fabric or even a thin metal - or is that asking too much of a szzix?

Well, I still haven't found what I'm looking for...

sizzix can cut thin metal.

what size were you looking for? is eyelets too small?

Thanks Champs.
I'm looking for something about 4cm by 4cm - similar to the pram and teddy that I have on my baby cards, but I'm hoping to do a grown up version to set the dial for the time of last medicine - I've been planning it for a while, but have not been able to find an embellishment suitable.
It's driving me crazy, because I really want to get on with this, as the baby medicine wheel has been so popular, but I'm stumped unless I can find the right embellishment!
If I can make my own with a sizzix, that's great, because I really enjoy putting my cards together (I find it very theraputic!) and I'd like the new cards to be a bit more 'handcrafted'.

Hmm - it seems that American bandages are plasters, and I'm not sure about sticking a plaster on the front of a card!
Dh has a theory that I can't find an apple embellishment because Apple Computers have trademarked every apple in the whole wide world(!) I'm not convinced

How about making your own out of fimo.If you're quite artistic you could do your own design or if you want easier if you have a lot to make you could see if there is a push mould of an apple.I'm off to the craft shop today so I'll have a look for you there, they have a lot of fimo stuff.Or you could do one with pebeo touch paints, you can stick jewwels onto the paint. So you could find some leaf buttons or leaf shaped jewells for a leaf at the top.I did a strawberry and it turned out nice.I did it onto felt by the way.

Many thanks for the ideas, layla - I haven't used fimo since I was little and made glow in the dark stars for my bedroom ceiling!
We're off on a selling trip this afternoon (nervous emoticon), and I think there's a craft shop where we are going so I'll see if dh will let me pop in, in the name of research!

Hi Champs!
BB,I haven't been to the craft shop yet to have a look, may go tomorrow.Work and shopping getting in the way.If you do have a go at making one just a tip-if you don't have the right colour fimo you can paint it with acrilic paints and varnish it too. That makes the colour stand out apparantly.
