<Blatantly nicked from another forum but thought it was a great idea>

<And partially inspired by this thread What are your crafty plans for 2014 >

I thought it may be a good idea to have a challenge of 14 craft projects in 2014 - anyone care to join?

The challenge is simple - list 14 projects that you want to complete in 2014 and use this thread to talk about progress / issues / share finished results. Projects can be anything - small, large, WIPs that you've had hanging round for ages, any type of craft.

I'll set a sister thread up in Arts and craft pictures for finished projects.

4. Oil cloth book bag for my SIL
5. Quilted table mats for MIL
6. Matching pot holder for MIL

8. Wedding Album for me and DH (about time - we've only been married for 10 years)
9.
10.
11.
12.
13.
14.

Still haven't decided on my final 6 but am constantly on the look out for ideas.

bemusedisnottheword Sat 04-Jan-14 23:31:46

I like this!

1.learn different crochet techniques and then make dd 3 a hat
2. Make dd2 a hat and gloves
3. Make dd1 a stripy hat
4. finish my huge blanket
5 . start a huge family wall collage
6. Make lots of pom poms with the girls.
7. finish knitting my friends scarf
8. start a granny stripe blanket
9. Make a cushion
10.
11.
12.

that's it so far, I've already done one and two. I learnt how to crochet a hat and made a tiny baby one and then made dd 3 who is 3 a beanie hat in deep purple with little pink hearts on the front with little buttons on them. I am ridiculously proud. first thing I have ever made for the dc.

roguepixie Sun 05-Jan-14 10:46:46

I'm in:

1. Knit at least one pair of socks a month, a'la CookieA. Anniversary pair for DH already done.
2. Knit the 'Victory Beret' from Tasha at ByGumByGolly.
3. Knit Mary Jane Mucklestone's 'Fairisle Vest'.
4. Knit Kate Davies' 'OWLS' jumper.

12. Start to make my own clothes. I have got some practice at making clothes but I want to get better at it.
13. Knit cushion covers.
14.Make presents this year, rather than buy.

Wow!! That's quite a list...will probably have another 14 to add to it tomorrow confused.

BloominNora Sun 05-Jan-14 11:44:09

Wow Bemused - I'm impressed you've already completed two of yours.

It would be great to see pics.

I contrast, I've got as far as cutting out the squares for my bro's blanket and laying them out, so they are all in little numbered bundles waiting for me to sew them together. I am not back at work until the 13th, so am hoping to get a good few hours sewing in when the kids are back at school / nursery

That's an ambitous list roguepixie - actually I should probably add learn to knit and crochet to my list. I really want to concentrate on doing more sewing, but also want something I can do while sat in front of the TV when I'm too knackered it is too late to get the sewing machine out!

roguepixie Sun 05-Jan-14 11:52:30

Ambition is my middle name Bloomin grin ... actually getting it all done is a completely different matter gringringrin.

Tbh, DH is off on a business trip tomorrow and will be away until the beginning of the following week so <<<bad wife emoticon>>> I am looking forward to lots of knitting time smile blush

daisychicken Sun 05-Jan-14 11:58:33

daisychicken Sun 05-Jan-14 19:02:44

All these lovely knitted and crochet plans! I can knit.. just but struggle if I make a mistake and I can't crochet, I tried to teach myself but it caused so much pain in my hands that I gave up.. I've been looking at the round looms and wonder if that would be my knit/crochet alternative and if it would be kinder on my hands... has anyone tried one?

Stitchthis Sun 05-Jan-14 19:48:54

Ooooo - Can I join in please...I am an inveterate starter and a terrible finisher. This is just what I need. Here's my plans thus far.

1) crochet handwarmers - I'm halfway through these
2) keyrings for my etsy shop - the idea is there, the prototype is setting now
3) journal52 art folder link here
4) upcycling a vintage quilt top I have into a proper, finished quilt
5) upcycling an old chair for my craft room/office
6) do an oil painting I can hang in my house
7) draw/write a comic
8) knit a shrug from a Rowan pattern I have just bought
9) make a gingerbread house
10) learn life drawing
11) Learn how to spin yarn
12) weave my own fabric
13) print my own fabric
14) learn Lino printing

I will stick this on my blog too if no one minds. It's been a funny old year so a fresh start in 2014 is much needed.

BloominNora Sun 05-Jan-14 22:30:19

Excellent - lots of new challengees grin

A lot of people seem to have sewing knickers on their lists. That one seems to have passed me by. Is it a new trend?

daisychicken Sun 05-Jan-14 23:31:48

Just me I think! I've wanted to sew my own knickers for a long time (weirdly!!) and finally took a one day course in November... I now have lots of WIPS (work in progresses) to finish!

BloominNora Mon 06-Jan-14 08:05:39

Ahhhh Daisy - it's because you updated your list. I knew I'd read it twice - just not picked up that it was you both times. Probably read it on the Crafty Plans thread as well (that'll teach me to read user names properly) blush

So are they posh lingerie knickers or plain ones? Is it fiddly trying to do the elastic?

Gullygirl Mon 06-Jan-14 08:22:30

Oh can I join?
I am terrible at finishing projects, so my list has a few UFOs.
1.Finish x stitch of London scene.(1/4 done)
2.Finish knitting Estonian Lace stole.(1/2 done)
3.Finish knitting aran weight cardigan
4.Finish knitting DK cardigan.
5.Knit scarves x 4.
6.Learn to crochet.
7.Paint a large canvas for my lounge.
8.Knit an Afghan.
9.Make Christmas decorations from felt.
10.Turn an accidentally felted Cardigan into a bag.

10.

Gullygirl Mon 06-Jan-14 08:23:41

Oops, am still in 2010...
Will need to think about 11 to 14.

RetroHippy Mon 06-Jan-14 08:26:22

Gully, a lot of my craft projects feel like they're from 2010!
