Is there any way in crochet to make a pattern resembling ribbing in knitting?

Something ideal for a cuff that is quite stretchy. Ta.

Front Post and Back Post crochet resembles it but it can tend to be gappy.

Just crochet into the back loop and you get a horizontal ribbing - you then turn the cuff and start crocheting along the side as your sleeve. So you need to add as many single crochets along the side as you need for you sleeve pattern. it can be tricky to get this even, especially if the cuff is much smaller than the sleeve.

Whatittakes, it's a cuff for a sock, worked bottom up so I'm not sure if that would work. What do you think?

And Soupy is post the official term for loop or am I mixing things up?

The post is the upright part of the stitch - although if you're doing DC (SC in US) then there probably isn't much of one. I've done it with TC to make "mock" cables.

If you look on Ravely for a sock pattern with a ribbed cuff, that may give you the answer.
