Hi :)

I am being Godmother to my neice on Sunday and have just had the idea to make her a little scrapbook for a gift.

I have collected photos of our family and also some information about her name. I want to put it together in a little keepsake book.

I have a craft shop nearby and would like to know what to look for and also ideas for binding the pages together.

Hope I've not left it too late!

thanks :)

Just go to the craft shop and get some pink/lilac backing papers etc some stick on embellishments for speed. A silver pen to doodle/write things with and some funky fibers to jazz it up. it's a shame you can't take some more time over it as there are so many examples I could show you but it would take time.

The other alternative is to buy a small pink photo album, the ones you peel back the cellophane and try something with that.

Sorry if it's not much help Gillian but I am not sure how much crafting you have done in the past or what stuff you have at home.......

I tried the peel back photo album and it looked pants. I found it really helpful looking at albums others had done for ideas, and used a lot of pre printed letters and words cause my writing is rubbish.

Its a shame she hasn't got more time Skribs, I know what you mean about the the peely ones. I think I would be tempted to dispense with the cello and just cover the pages.

Thanks for your ideas, girls.

I am off to the craft shop now and will ask advice there too. That will give me 2 evenings.

Am reasonably "crafty" but just no experience of scrapbooking!

OK have got all my stuff. Basically just some stiff sparkly pink card for front and back, pages in between and tied together with ribbon. I have some lovely pearlised paper and textured paper for mounting. Also some vellum with little hand and foot prints which I will put every couple of pages. It will mostly be photos but some text too.

I have a few embellishments but got rather confused on that front. Not sure how much "bulk" I could put between pages!

How does that sound?

sounds yummmi!!. If you tie book with ribbon the embellies can be quite bulky. just tie it up after you've done all the pages.

You go to groups and look for the Arts & crafts groups, then look for mumsnetcrafters, then apply to Join. I need AQ for this. There are loads of them on there. Will start new thread for AQ to issue instructions cos she is v.brainy about yahoo and sorts out our gallery (smile)
