A question for the quilters on here...

Ooh thanks overmydeadbody that's very good to hear. I'm such a beginner I do pin but I haven't bothered to stitch baste but I've only done small things so far.

And you probably don't need to pin it if it's really small grin (or maybe that just shows how much of a lazy sewer I am blush)

The quilts I make are too large for a single piece of batting, I always just baste them together with big stitches and then quilt as normal.

It should be fine, expecially for a doll! grin

I'm using up some left over fabric to make a quilt for dd's doll's bed but I don't have a single piece of batting large enough to sandwich between the two pieces of fabric I have. Can I use two equal sized pieces and just make absolutely sure when I'm pinning all the layers together that the batting doesn't move around? Once I've sewn in the quilting lines the batting should stay put shouldn't it?

I know it's only for dd's doll so it shouldn't really matter but as a novice quilter it would be handy to know for any future projects when I'm using up scraps of this and that.
