500g of dither - help please!

I've acquired 500g of a chunky twisted yarn, not something I would normally choose because of the aggravation factor.

It's nicely soft and squidgy but although I can both knit and crochet to an adequate level, I'm bored silly of the slabs of scarves, hats and blankets I've been churning out since it got chilly.

Any interesting ideas for something useful? A fairly simple pattern since the vagueness of the strand is enough to have me roaring with rage at my crocheted gauge patch so far...

I need ideas because otherwise I have to fall back on finishing the dullest blanket in the world Sad.

Are you on Ravelry? You can search for the yarn (or somthing similar) and see what others have made with it. I find it really useful as you get an idea of the finished look.

How about a bag?

Yup, crafty, I tried searching tops but I'm a ball or two short of a pattern Wink, and there's not much really on there for this thickness. I may have to abandon the idea of useful clothing and go for useful something else.

NotADragon, a bag, you say? Hmm. I don't really need a bag, and the yarn is very wispy so not sure how robust it would be. Might go and have a fossick around some patterns though...

Since when did "need" become part of the criteria for making stuff? :o

I'm currently finishing off a pair of crochet "cabled owl" wrist warmers but I don't think they would work with a twisted yarn.

Since I decided I really don't 'need' another blanket made of scraps...

Cabled owls, eh? Tell me more. That twisty stuff is not exactly the only yarn I have sitting about. Blush

Would the other yarn make a Woolly Hug?

Oh, they've got eyes!Shock Grin

Those are rather wonderful.

I don't know - would it? What's a woolly hug (I've seen the thread name but not what goes on)?
