Pine cones - what to do?

Sorry to repeat myself, (see bloody barbie feathers - still in throat). I have been collecting pine cones for the last couple of months as I thought I could spray them silver/gold. Thats it though, haven't got a clue what to do after that. I was conjuring up something with a candle, but just pine cones? Need some inspiration?

As it is getting close to that 25 December time (cant bring myself to say it) why not sprinkle glitter on them, put string through them and make tree deckies!!!

Get yourself a nice shaped log or 10, put the pine cones in the nooks and crannys/ or screw hole in it...get the snow spray out give it a good spray...till its all covered...then sprinkle some glitter on the tress...green stuff, get some small santa type dudes and then if you want add your candles...
They look FAB....

Wasn't there a mumsnetter who was inundated with these before her landlord chopped the tree down?

UCM....if you get some cinnamon fragrance oil you can sprinkle it over the pine cones....smells lovely at christmas time.
I bought some floristry cellophane last year and got some huge pine cones. Sprinkled them with fragrance oil and added a piece of ribbon so the cones could hang. I then wrapped them in the cellophane...added a bow and spangly xmasy trimmings with a tag made in thick mulberry. Sold them for £1.50 each at a craft fair and sold out within the first 30 mins....it was the smell...so christmassy and yum....people couldnt resist them!

Spray/ paint them green

Dots of glue all over them sprinkle with glitter

Paint a cork brown

Stick cone upright into centre of cork (may need to gouge a small hole)

Stick on red card base

TARRRRAH! - A mini Christmas Tree

(Had to make 30 of these with DS's classmates last year - aaaargh!)

NOT sprayed at all....a tartan ribbon glued into base...tied in a bow .....some more ribbon as a loop for hanging on the christmas tree....very 'victorian'.
