Hypothyroidism at 6 weeks pregnant

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at 6 weeks pregnant, the doctor immediately started me on 25mg of thyroxine. My levels started at 22, went down to 15 and now at 11 weeks they are 9. I am now on 75mg and am aware my levels need to be between 1 and 2. Obviously this is all very new to me and I am just so concerned about any issues with my baby, the baby is doing all its important development at this stage and the whole time my levels have been so high. Am super anxious, any advice or experience greatly appreciated. Google has not been my friend in all of this. Have had 2 scans and an appointment with consultant who informed me of chance of low IQ in babies from hypothyroid mothers...

Hiya, I have had it for 13 years, my first pregnancy I had it but didn't know, medication was started a few months after I had ds, like you I started on a small dose. I had ds 2, 2 years ago, it was a consultant led pregnancy and baby had to have blood tests done at birth to check I had not passed anti bodies on to him, but by this time my dose was 150mg. As for a low iq, don't worry, ds now 2 was walking at 11 months, can count to 10 - well almost, never quite remembers number 5 - and is always complemented on his lovely speech, good manners, cheeky charm and ability to see a problem and solve it, like getting his step stool to reach chocolate that I think I have put out of reach!

It is scary to find out that there is something else to worry about when you are pregnant, especially so newly pregnant, but it is fine, really, me and my lovely ds's are proof of that. You may find you need more blood tests than other Mums, and baby too, but your medication dose is relatively low, I would think your risks are also low.

All the best and good luck. X
