Hi I'm 14+4 days pregnant with my second child, I had the blood test done to check for downs, hospital rang me to say and said it's clear for that but there's protein in my blood that can effect babies growth and to see her on Wednesday to talk about it, I'm so scared what does it mean she never really explained just said she would talk to me about it when I go to hospital, is there summit wrong with baby, is it me, has anyone had this??? Any help would be great

It could mean that it's an indicator of pre aclampsia. I had the same thing OP and often it's just that there's protein in the urine and it doesn't turn into pre aclampsia...that's what happened to me.

here's a link about it

Pre aclampsia is actually more dangerous for you than for the baby but as in my case it may not turn out to be anything other than unexplaiend protein in wee.

Don't fret! xx

Oh sorry I see! It doesn't necassarily mean that there's something wrong....when is your appointment at the hospital now? The best thing to do in times like this when nothing's certain is to focus only on thinking and being positive....not looking at things that could go wrong. It's very hard I know and I really feel for you. Flowers

It could be that you have too much or too little of one of the proteins. So for example I have a protein c deficiency. This was discovered after a late loss and so I was given blood thinners throughout pregnancy and regularly saw the haematologist as well as obstetrician throughout the next pregnancy. I now have twins:)
Others I know of are protein s and factor v Leiden. If they have found something now it's great as they can manage and risks are minimal.
