DS1 ges to Boys Brigade and Step-Mil helps out, I have helped out in the past and we both have CRB checks.

MIL has phoned tonight to see if she can help out. I said she wouldnt as she doesnt have a CRB or a list 99. She asked MIL to phone the leader and when she did he said that she would be okay to come.

Was I wrong in thinking she needed a CRB, surely otherwise anyone could bowl up.

I run a group in a different children's organisation

I have a CRB as a leader

parent helpers do not need CRBs as long as they are not going to be alone with a child at any time

we have to have 2 fully registered and CRB checked leaders per group night, and as many parent helpers as we want

I do children's work in a church context. Any leaders or regular helpers in children's work most definitely need CRBs. There is some provision for "occasional helpers" without CRBs, if they have no supervisory role, so I guess someone helping as a complete one-off might fall into that category.

If you really want to find out what the Boys' Brigade policy is, look here. But it doesn't specifically talk about "extra" helpers as opposed to leaders.

One off helpers don't need a CRB as long as they ar enot left unsupervised with children.

all depends on policy. you dont NEED a crb as such , it just depends on the organisation.
