to think I may be pregnant again?

Sorry, not really an AIBU but this section is always packed with helpful people. I think I may be pregnant again. Here's the context.

In October 2008 I found out I was pregnant. I had been on the pill for three years but I came off it and we decided that if I became pregnant, we'd be very happy. Pregnancy happened immediately. In December 2008 I had a miscarriage. It was traumatic both physically and emotionally.

In December 2008 I opted to have the Implanon contraceptive implant inserted as I wasn't ready to face being a mother or suffering more heartache.

The implant made me very ill and even caused me to put on three stones in weight. I kept it in for a year but by December 2009 I was desperate for relief, so went back on the pill. The pill never bothered me before but post-miscarriage it gave me blinding headaches and cramps. I came off it in February 2010.

Since February 2010 we have used condoms. We are not against having a child, I just needed to get my body back in order.

From December 2008 to February 2010 I had no periods. In February I had a very heavy period for two weeks. Then nothing until the start of May and it lasted five days.

However, for the past week, I have had exactly the same pattern of nausea and morning sickness, exhaustion (falling asleep at 9pm for twelve hours) and the metallic taste in mouth that I had during pregnancy. I feel fine otherwise. My DH noticed last week that I was chatting away to him then suddenly ran to the bathroom to vomit. Afterwards, fine until an hour or two later when the same thing happened. This is happening daily. I can't drink tea or coffee without vomiting and I can't drink or smoke a cigarette (bad for me, I know! I simply mean I physically can't do things I normally do).

I took a clearblue digital test (I think it would be too early though). It clearly said 'not pregnant'.

Is it pregnancy? Is it my body trying to regulate my hormones? An illness, perhaps? Any ideas would be really helpful. My DH rightly says see the doctor. I hope it's not tooo to ask on here first! Incidentally, we would be very happy to have a child at this stage.

Get a cheap Tesco twin pack one...

Test tonight cos if the suspense factor and one in the morning when wee has the strongest hormones.

BTW I often get pregnancy symptoms when close friends are preggers or I am very run down.

if it's very early days then digital wont cut the mustard - use a normal clearblue where there is a blue line for pregnant and nothing for not pregnant. more senstive than the digital ones for early on.

good luck, hope you get the right result

You guys are really great. You're right, dietcokebreak, many friends are pregnant and I am very run down so I can see how the symptoms might occur! Gene, I didn't realize that non-digital were better for early days.

My head is running far ahead of my poor body, thanks for being logical.

If I'm pregnant, it's lovely. If not, I just have to ensure I'm not ill. Just need to reassure myself.

i'm keeping them crossed for you. took us many many years and LOTS of IVFs to conceive so i am veteran of pregnancy tests. to this day i maintain the sight of that very faint blue line is the best thing i have ever seen. yy seeing baby for first time all well and good but that blue line after so many years of outright negatives still gets me tingly now

good luck

I'll have a look for the Hai, cheers. I'll make a doctor's appointment either way, just to clear up what has been a rough couple of years on the body.

Hi everyone
Thanks again for the support and for waiting for me to respond. I'm definitely not pregnant, I went to the GP who thinks I have a virus as well as my body readjusting itself. I do think 'virus' is such a cop-out diagnosis. But I'm not pregnant, which is the big news, and I'm not seriously ill either. I'll take an anti-emetic to stop the sickness and hopefully with some rest I'll get back to normal.

It has made me and DH talk constantly about children. We were both made scared by the MC and also it made us question timing/finances. We over-analyzed our whole life. This recent maybe-pregnant scenario made us realize that fears and practical issues will always be present. In our hearts, we want children. So now we are 'officially' TTC.

DH says he wants two daughters, bless him, he's all excited now. I'm not sad that I'm not pregnant, this recent wondering has really helped us open our hearts. Thanks again!

oh good luck to you alexisfaith, isn't it funny how old Fate works - if you weren't ill right now you would never be now TTC!
