DD (aged 5) was handed (by her teacher) a leaflet advertising Legoland as she came out of school today. We live a good couple of hundred miles away from Legoland, there was no promotion that offered a kickback to the school if we booked, there is (as far as I know) no educational merit to Legoland, it's prohibitively expensive for me and a fair few other families I would have thought.
My DD is used to being handed letters about school trips and party invitations, if I hadn't have whipped the leaflet out of her hands sharpish I reckon she'd have assumed that a trip to Legoland was a done deal.
I find it so intrusive, it's not like a TV ad that I have chosen to expose her to.
Am I being unreasonable in thinking that the school shouldn't be promoting theme parks?
Just to add - I have nothing against theme parks, I don't only allow my DD educational trips or anything joyless like that. I just don't understand why the school would push advertising on us like this if there's nothing in it for them, the local community or the child?
