YABVU

Marmite???

Why would you do that to a child of any age??

Depends what he eats for the rest of the day

DS generally has Marmite toast for lunch, but needs something more substantial for breakfast.

Hasn't it got loads of salt in it?

Either way I second PP.

YABVU

It's gross!

DD has weetabix and a banana first thing then mucks about with a piece of marmite on toast while we eat breakfast.

YANBU.

It's fine. I wouldn't give marmite sandwiches for lunch though, if he's having marmite on toast for breakfast.

My DS used to like marmite soldiers at that age. It's quite salty, but if the rest of his/her diet is low in salt, I don't see a problem.

ewwww.....marmite should be banned..even looking at the label makes me want to barf!

YANBU its perfectly fine for breakfast or any other meal, so long as there's variety adn balance through the day (DT2 would eat nothing else if i let her!)

Sounds perfectly normal to me - although I hate marmite, DS loves it and often has marmite on toast or crumpets for breakfast

Report
ReneRusso · 18/01/2010 21:26

Of course its fine - was my staple diet as a child.

I wish my DD would eat marmite. I love it... I have a hard time getting her to eat anything at breakfast time. Toast and butter or a bowl of Rice Krispies counts as triumph in this house!

Report
neenz · 18/01/2010 21:27

Yeah it's fine, just spread it thin (and use Vegemite instead )

Report
motherlovebone · 18/01/2010 21:28

neenz why vegemite?

With cheese, yum.
While we're on the subject have you had the (healthy) marmite rice cakes, they are great!

Marmite is salty but eaten in such small quantities! My two DDs have been raised on it as did I. Good source of vitamin B!

As was I...
Marmite on toast with a poached egg is gorgeous. Get good eggs though

Hope this will help - I think there are worse things to worry about...........

B vitamins, folic acid, eaten on wholemeal (fibre) with soya spread with added omega 3 & 6.
sounds good, tastes good, looks dreamy.

love it!

Thing is DS is still b.feeding all night, whats the point of MORE milk?

This tides him over til lunch.

Though rightly or wrongly, we eat best at dinner time.

nannynobs we ALWAYS use good eggs
