AIBU?

To be annoyed about my new fence being trashed?

Actually I know I'm not being unreasonable, but I didn't know where else to post this .

New fence put up and in less than a week a large hole has been kicked in it. Our house is next to the village hall and there have been problems with kids mucking about in the car park, drinking etc. I also object to the fact that my garden is being used to dump their empties, especially when there is a bin nearby -grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

So, what can I do? Who can I complain to?

Thanks

There must be some sort of group of people who are in charge of the vilage hall. I'd send them a bill and a complaining letter.

Thanks hercules, yes there is but I don't know if it's their responsibility. I guess I could write anyway to let them know what's going on. They had to put up a CCTV camera because of previous problems which has helped sort some of the problems of the past.

Well that didn't make an awful lot of sense - felt I repeated myself there!

Maybe the council?

I would definitely write to the owners of the hall and ask for them to either ensure that the area is secure to stop people from trespassing, or to ensure that people who should be there are supervises.
As for the fence, you might have to claim from your insurance or foot the bill yourself.
With regard to the dumping of empties, could you put trellis up to make your fence a couple of feet higher to discourage the throwing of litter over it?

Contact the police and tell them there are (presumably) underagers drinking in a public place. They should move them on, at least temporarily.

Unfortunately the carpark issue is an ongoing problem. It's not a secure area at all and is easy to access there is a foot high fence surrounding the perimeter, apart from the massive gates and our fence of course

If the hall is being used by various people you should write to them all inc. the council and the police. Arrange a meeting in the hall with the various groups inc. police with a tour to your fence and ask them all to chip in to fix it.
Do you have signs on the other side of the fence re. littering etc.
Pants though that it is a long ongoing thing for you.
