AIBU?

dd has a party to go to this afternoon 2-4 which is normally her naptime so i have spent an hour walking her round and round on her reins in the rain trying to wear her out to have an early nap. (she is 21 months).
dp has played golf this morning and is coming to the party this afternoon.
So at 11 we were back from the walk so i got her milk and snack and settled her down to watch a rudolph dvd and she got all sleepy, plan working so far.
just as she finished her milk dp arrived home and waved to her through the window before starting to get his golf stuff in. dd sleepily says daddys home. so i presume he will come in give her a cuddle and put her to bed or i will put her to bed but she wants to see him before her nap now as she is a real daddys girl.
dp then starts chatting to a neighbour, after 5 mins i take dd upstairs and put her in the cot and she is saying daddys home, i told her hed be up in a minute to see her. after another 5 mins i look out and he is still chatting so i told her daddys not home yet (even though he waved to her) he will be home when she wakes up and she finally settled after about 10 minutes.
finally dp comes in banging his golf stuff about and i had to rush down and tell him she is asleep, he says thats early and i remind him about the party and said she was asking for him as he waved to her and he says oh i forgot, i got talking.

now i seem to have planned all morning round preparing for this party which dd will love! dp has had all morning playing golf and i think it was selfish of him not to consider dd and that once she saw him she wanted him to come in and cuddle her.

dp thinks im being ott and he didnt know she was going to bed and only chatted for 15 minutes.

every time she has an afternnon party i do the same thing and get her down for an early nap so if i can remember why cant he?

[waits to be called very unreasonable]

Oh you are SOOOOO over analyzing this.

Did she wake up? No.

Was dh drunk out all night partying and then came crashing in,no.

Did your super early nap plan ultimately work? Yes.

This is not worth getting the hump about, believe me.

i think its just that i dont like to have dd asking for daddy when she is really tired and i can see him standing outside chatting and i just wanted him to come in and cuddle her before she went to sleep. he was gone out this morning before she got up so she hasnt seem him yet and i felt sorry for her.

no he hasnt been out drinking or woke her up but i wish he hadnt waved at her then she wouldnt have been asking for him.

If you judge others by what you would do ,you will only set yourself up for disappointment.

I probably would have gone out to where DH was speaking to neighbour and asked him if he could come in and cuddle DD as she was off for an early sleep.

Not sure why people don't just tell other people what they need them to do!!

I'm going to go against the grain and say yes, he was a bit thoughtless. But it's not a huge thing.

just back from party and it was great and dd loved it so it all worked out in the end.
I could have taken her out but then the neighbour might have felt a bit awkward like he was being a pain chatting too long so decided to leave it.

If you ever have more than one you will have to lighten up-you have to disturb their routine all the time.It is really unimportant.

I never said you were a control freak.

I didn't note the date the OP was made so no need for all this stroppiness.
