following on from this thread, I offered them all a water fight.

oh, it is hell here now.

we live on a corner plot, so they are running out the back door, over the wall, in the front door, then running thru the house, all in the aim of 'shooting' each other.

DH has escaped to the bath with lager

I have wine

it is STILL too loud.

DH is grumpy

I told him it was advice from here

he blames me for listening

I am blaming you lot

so.................

when he tries the butter method on me again, and succeeds, I am damn well not considering myself to be unreasonable in thinking that I will haunt the entire site!!

Lock the front door?

Not the back one though ... that would be cruel

Well I have spent my day swinging between tears and taking a carving knife out with intent because of one extra child - and he wasn't even in my house

So, if you have made it this far, my hat is off to you!

lol, just found this again............they settled down at 11pm with 5 (yes, 5) camps in the lounge.

yesterday morning bought spilled choc cereal and milk across the lounge carpet, and now the house smells of sour milk as I still cannot get rid of the smell.

damn sodding sleep-overs!!!

and when I say camps, I mean the tented, using-all-the-blankets-and-pegs-in-the-house type of camps!

Ooh, I want to make a tent now but we don't have the right sort of airers to hang things off.

psychomum5 · 20/04/2009 16:25

yup, they used them too

green with yuck at the sour milk though - I hate the smell of warm milk let alone sour.

I also hate the smell of the carpet-cleaning stuff as it always makes me think of cat vomit (even when what's been spilled is really red wine)

Are they all back at school now? I am exhausted just thinking about 5 children, let alone their friends (and illness etc ).

I take my hat off to you psychomum...I managed 3 boys and my DC's (2 of them). And it took weeks to recover....

Why is it so much more expensive DOING sleepovers than the money you save from getting rid of the little monsters for the night...?

Report
psychomum5 · 20/04/2009 16:49

oh yes, the expensive of sleep-overs (with the 'midnight feast' goodies they always seem to need etc).

trillian, not back until wednesday for the three small ones (well, smaller ones). the terrible-teen-duo went back today

you might fancy one of my fairy cakes, psycho, made with pure. I think they might be very tasty. And vermicelli have no dairy in them - what a treat

Report
psychomum5 · 20/04/2009 17:11

ooh, have never tried baking fairy cakes with pure. DH tried to make me a LDC with pure, and over whipped it making it curdle. kind of put me off (altho, that should have made me want to make it better than himto prove that I can).

will try my hand at baking me thinks once the tribe is back at school

assuming then that you just substitute the butter into pure??

I have banana muffin recipe that uses oil instead of butter, so that would work for you. Can make carrot cake that way too.

I usually use stork in my cakes, good for dairy intolerance but still not dairy-free enough for you I think (buttermilk is listed as ingredient but lower on the list than salt).

pointydog · 20/04/2009 17:39

thanks trillian - I have oil carrot cake and muffin recipes and will be trying them sometime soon too

Did someone call me

I made blueberry and white chocolate muffins today.

Report
TrillianAstra · 20/04/2009 17:45

Now we just need to work out how to make the good sort of icing to go on the carrot cake.

MuffinBaker - any dairy-free ideas for fluffy icing?

(and do you just turn up anywhere that muffins are mentioned? )
