to think I may need counselling because I just saw The Wiggles after a break of, what, 3 years?

The shock, the shock.

I have a 6 year age gap between middle and youngest DC. By chance, I caught 5 minutes of The Wiggles today, and I had to shut my mouth with my hand Oh no, what's happened?

One of them (Greg?) has left and been replaced - I think I may have read this somewhere, so it wasn't a shock , but they haven't even bought the new guy his own jumper and his skinny little neck is sticking out of the collar like a tortoise.

Murray has got a wig on!

The lovely Anththththony is so, so grey.

At least Jeff hasn't changed.

I feel so cheated. Like finding out Father Christmas doesn't exist all over again.

But the worst bit is, have I aged that much as well.

I think I may have .

DS has a Wiggles guitar

No matter how many times I hide put it away he keeps finding it.

It's sodding loud, annoying and cheesey!!!

(we didn't buy it him )

PMSL at retired! You might be right, I think I remember reading that he was suffering from ill-health.

My sister lives in Australia and she told me a few years ago that the Wiggles are the highest earners in the Australian entertainment industry.

Ive only seen them once at the end of a Bob The Builder DVD and they were very scary... all jumpers tucked into high waisted trousers singing some cheesy 'teddy bear going to sleep song'with abunch of circa 1970's dressed children

A lady on my mums board lives in Aus and she too says they are big big stars and well loved there

we've only got clips on the end of other DVDs but DS loves them, looks like he's doing the twist!!

DD has the drum and the guitar (presents from other people).

Greg actually left because of health issues.

We went to see them in Hammersmith last year - big fans in this house

Maybe the reason Jeff doesn't appear to have changed is that he is the one who is always asleep.

Highly compatible with old age.

He was obviously playing the long game when he chose his "wacky character quirk."

Much cleverer than: "I like Fruit Salad, and Hot Padaydas."

At the risk of being shot down in flames, I have to admit to being a closet Wiggles fan. My daughter (3) loves them altho we only had one dvd of the old lineup. Got a new dvd free with a Tesco's mag and Balloonslayer, I'm with you on the shock! They have all aged except of course the new guy who is so much younger. Why didn't they pick someone their own age? Can't remember his name but apparently he was in the chorus or something (I have Australian friends is my excuse). But Greg (the old yellow one) left the Wiggles as it was making him ill ! Thing that gets me is Anthony's TEETH, you can't get away from them, and he does all this sinister grinning in a very unsuitable for children kind of way ...

However, my dd doesn't appear to have noticed so boogie on!

And Captain Feathersaw [sic, my DC's name for him] seems to have gone on a diet

X post purlease! Also, Captain Feathersword doesn't seem to have aged at all, must be the eye patch ... Good point about Jeff, there's one bizarre dream sequence he has in our dvd where he dreams he's a cow, all that sleeping must be doing something odd.

The Wiggles are like the plague over here. They are national treasures and are marketed so well that you can't even go to a supermarket without seeing their faces on something in almost every aisle (milk, biscuits, spaghetti, fruit jelly, condoms (no, only joking..). I have weird and rather horrifying dreams about them at least 3 times a week.
Greg has a dehabilitating illness which meant he had to stand down to be replaced by Sam who used to be one of their dancers. Anthony's teeth are made of actual china in order for them to dazzle and brainwash kids when he opens his mouth. Jeff is the only one who isn't married (but nobody questions why) and Murray goes into my mate's record shop regularly and still has aspirations to be a rock guitarist. Captain Feathersword lives in an oxygen tank. The 3 badly made panto animals (Wags, Dorothy and Henry) have therapy to control their aggression.
They are the wealthiest children's entertainers in the world and cause grief to most parents who have to listen to those sodding tunes every day.
DD will wake up in the next few hours and demand Wiggles with breakfast. Lordy, somebody make them stop.

So if they earn so much, why can't they afford - in no particular order - Grecian 2000, a convincing wig, a new jumper?

Sorry but Wiggles rule in this house. The 'Wiggles magic' movie is virtually worn out and DS2 (3) can do the end-credits medley in fast motion with all the actions. V funny!
We are still mourning the loss of 'Gred' and now Daddy has to be Sam (or new-Gred as he is known) I have the honour of being Anfunny, DS1 is Murray (teeth not quite so bright!!) DS2 is Jeff (lucky him, gets to sleep) Oh the long winter nights have just flown by!!!
Am v. sadly at the thought that we missed them touring last year!!

I really need to get out more...

I adore the Wiggles... I'd never seen or heard of them before moving "down under" 3 years ago and from seeing some of their "early work", I'm glad I didn't know about them until recently as they've definitely improved in recent years.

Yes, Anthony (the gorgeous one) is getting greyer but he is one incredibly flexible and energetic bloke (went to see their show just before Xmas and he was doing loads of acrobatics... yummmy!).

Greg had to leave as he had a debilitating illness which meant his blood pressure would drop dangerously low whenever he stood up or danced around. Orthostatic intolerance, or something that sounds like that.

I hadn't realised Murray's wearing a wig to be honest but he still creeps me out.

And yes, it's a miracle of modern medicine that Jeff is still bopping around... he even did some minor acrobatics at his recent show.

TIGURR - Anthony=gorgeous?!!! No no no!!!!
Lord girl, move AWAY from the Wiggles DVDs and get yourself some Brad Pitt movies asap.

Totally agree about Jeff - it is truly a miracle. Does anyone know how old he actually is?

balloonslayer, in answer to your original question you may need counselling but I think there may be more urgent cases to be seen by the therapist so get to the end of the line

LOL BrightonGirl... I remember how chuffed I was the night I was waiting at Sydney airport for my brother to arrive and suddenly saw Anthony and Capn Feathersword walk past... heaven LOL

DH thinks my taste in totty is disturbing... I'm the girl who still would do Jason Donovan given half a chance...!

Yes, purlease, you are right. I think I may have to get over my trauma by myself.

Tigurr I agree with you and think AnTHony and the Captain were rather nice. Hence my disappointment. Couldn't they have looked after themselves a bit better for the sake of the mums?

Since yesterday I have looked the Wiggles up on Wikipedia. There is a disturbingly large entry. It says that Anthony was born in 1963, Jeff in 1953 and Murray in 1960. Other interesting information: in 2008 Murray was named the "sixth best guitarist in Australia," a fact which made me laugh a lot, for all the wrong reasons.

I am so happy that DD thinks the Wiggles are 'boring' - quite frankly I think there's something very disturbing about Jeff....

But I surprised myself the other day when we changed channels and caught a few seconds of their show, as I recognised Paul the Chef as being Paul Hester out of Crowded House (who committed suicide a while ago), so the shows we get over here must be pretty old. And Jeff STILL looked like he'd been embalmed!
