.. am I BU? xmas day = parents, new year = in laws. But I just want to spend the rest of the time with my own family, letting the kids play with their toys and having long walks in the afternoons. A few friends are wanting to meet up with their children over the hols but I just want to relax and spend some "quality time" with my own... am I being anti social?!!!

sounds reasonable to me. We never meet anyone. This year my mum will pop over for lunch but thats it.

Yanbu.
I feel the same.
I am happy to spend CHristmas day with the inlaws, but it is exhausting running around all through the festive season.

I love being anti social over Xmas/NY. We get all the relative visits out of the way the weekend before (they're all at least 300 miles away) so we can just relax and enjoy Xmas. I can't wait to have long country walks followed by damson gin & Xmas cake by the woodburner.

We'll be going to a couple of drinks parties during the day though so we won't be too unsociable.

Nope. Sounds like a pretty perfect Christmas to me.

We are being very anti-social. MIL is coming over this weekend. SIL and family coming the weekend afterwards, my parents some time at the start of January. Dh is off work - a rarity - so we are enjoying doing family things.

I don't want to spend Christmas running around after other people and mediating in arguments.

Got my Mum over for half of Christmas day. Everyone else coming boxing day. Wanted a quiet one.

this is the advantage of having no family nearby.

we have the next door neighbours' over after the kids go to bed and drink mulled cider and whisky.

that's about it.

We're at home on Xmas Day and will see family on Boxing Day. Other than that, no major plans. We'll play it by ear (which probably means spend days on end in our PJs watching telly and eating Quality Street - great!)

YANBU - I like to lock the door, draw the curtains and shut the world out.

I can think of nothing better than happy, worn out sleepy children in their own beds and DH and I snuggling up on the sofa with a bottle of wine, some cheese and crackers and a good film.

Roll on Christmas Eve
