AIBU?

to be really miffed that the toddler bed I just paid £130 for has no matress with it?

So after DS turned in to Houdini we decided to get him a toddler bed (SO cute- In the Night Garden bed). Found it on Amazon and fell in love with it. Had seen one on ebay (Saplings one) and it was the same price and it came with a mattress. So I thought, they are the same price I'll get the one I want.

Before I get flamed- in the picture there was a mattress- it was NOT specified but nothing was- there were NO details. I presumed that it came with a mattress. Even though I am still waiting on it, I contacted the seller (through Amazon) to ascertain when it was coming and he told me that it didn't come with a mattress. I was to say the least. I wouldn't have bought it if i had know that I was going to have to buy a mattress too as we are not totally skint but nearly .

AIBU to be indignant about the lack of mattress or AIBU to have expected one at all just because it was in the picture?

Aaah, they never come with mattresses, tis a cheeky con and you only learn through experience

I think YANBU - it's pictured with a mattress, but not with bedding, so not obviously a "serving suggestion".

It is going to cost you more in the future as a toddler bed will only last a few years before it becomes too small and then you will be buying a new bed and a new mattress.
YAB a bit U as you must have known that was too cheap for a themed bed and a mattress. Are you going to cancel the order?

folks, would love to send it back but have shown it to both DC who are very excited. DH has also decided to keep it but I am just scunnered because the mattress money will have to come from somewhere else eg chrismas money. Have not bought a toddler bed before as DD has a single and acknowledge that it will cost me more money in the long run but for space reasons chose a wee bed. Bah humbug.

Dont know if you have one near you but my local TKMaxx had fully sprung luxury mattresses down from over £140 to £37... I got one to used with the cotbed i've bought for DC3... The cotbed is exactly the same dimensions as your bed has...

Just off the phone to Consumer Direct (thanks for the link Mutt), and I may be on wobbley ground- will need to pursue it with Amazon and the independant seller. Hassel central.

And to add insult to injury, only half the bloody thing has turned up. Have to wait in for the other half tomorrow too . The kids are going to love me

Um the first customer review shouts out that it does not include a matress!

Ooops, was looking for threads about matresses and saw this and forgot to check the date before responding

Yeah - was gonna say same as Jammy.

And also, it says BEFORE the reviews:

Bed size: yada-yada, REQUIRED MATTRESS SIZE: yada-yada, not 'mattress size': so that's an indication...

Maybe the review saying there was no mattress was from shootfromthehip

Report
paisleyleaf · 11/10/2009 22:10

Sorry, it does state required mattress size.

YABU - 1st review states "THIS PRODUCT DOES NOT COME WITH A MATTRESS SO BUDGET FOR ONE"

If you scroll down one of the reviews says that it doesn't come with a mattress.

Send it back, go to IKEA, and just get decals to put on.

TBH, I would have thought a mattress came as well - i don't often read the fine print, and I need "NO MATTRESS SUPPLIED" in bold letters across the front

Report
ruddynorah · 11/10/2009 22:40

product description says mattress required.

your child will probably not even like night garden in another year or so. go to ikea and get something plain that will last.

Um, this thread is nearly a year old!! It was probably the OP's own review saying it didn't include a matress
