We have had sky now for about 8 weeks. At the moment only 4 channels have sound. Tech support are sending someone around on 12th Oct to fix the broken sky box.

Just now a sky man phoned and asked to speak to dh. I asked could I help, as dh at work. It was a reg sales call, although caller said he could only talk to account holder.

I got a bit shirty, and said we only had a bit of sky now as had sound on only 4 channels, and had he phoned to say an engineer was on his way, ho ho ho. Of course, then came the 'oh, that is tech support, not us' type of thing.

Oh don't you just love after sales support.

Anyway, evilness got the better of me, was a bit sarky, and said was not impressed.

So AIBU.

Yes, but he should not have bothered me, and sky should provide better after sales service.

No YANBU. I give stick to anyone involved in any company that doesn't deliver the service it should.

yabu

telesales is a thankless job anyway, and having someone being shirty for something that is not even your fault is not pleasant.

Sadly he's probably used to it though.

why pay for sky when you can get freeview and avoid all this hassle?

Am feeling a bit bad now, but he was quite rude to me when I asked if I could help instead of dh who was at work.

If he had been polite instead of growling at me, might not have got shirty.

Was he the owner of sky then? Otherwise it still isn't his fault he is doing his job.

No he is not the owner of sky. But did I ask to be phoned by a growling tele sales person?

cheshirekitty - I bet that guy did not grow up dreaming of a job in telesales. The people who make these calls are just doing their jobs, and it is a pretty horrible job and not exactly well paid.

Yes you subscribed to sky.

sclubheaven · 30/09/2008 15:49

Okay, I'll be referee

1)No, you didn't ask to be cold called, but he was just doing his job and didn't know your ongoing issue with Sky.

2)He was wrong to be growling/rude on the phone to you, but you were also wrong to take your anger out on him by being sarky/nasty.

So that's sorted.

yabu to have a go at hime

make sure that you make it abundantly clear to sky that you will not be paying the subscription due for this period where you are without the service they are expected to provide. at least then you aren't paying for something which you are not getting.

No, I did not subscribe to sky, dh did. The tele sales person made that quite clear.
