Sorry - going to rant - Phoned Virgin tonight because bloody broadband is SO SLOW ! It was much better when it was Telewest - now despite having the medium speed package it is dismal and getting worse. trying to look at houses in france for summer hols and keeps freezing. Phoned to complain only to be advised to try to avoid using it between 4 and 9 pm ! FFS! The greedy so and sos have too many people signed up to the bandwidth - anyone recommend alternative provider ?

I had the same problem with BT. My BT broadband switches off at midnight and starts again at 6am. I have been told taht it is to do with the speed of my computer....strange that this would mean that my computer was faster/more powerful during daylight hours!!!!!!!

We have BT and it was a nightmare - totally unreliable. Until my husband removed Norton Anti Virus from our machine and replaced it with Kaspersky. Now it is completely fine and never goes down. Just wondering if that is a contributory factor in your case.

We're with aol and yes, it is much slower in the evening than at any other time - I thought it was with the whole of the US waking up and getting online, but DH reckons it's all the locals coming home from work and accessing it.

BE unlimited currently has so much capacity that evenings are no different. I can't promise that it will stay that way though as time goes on (and you can't get it everywhere)

I have a poor phone line and yet still download at 1mb per second any time I like.
