why why why is it that rain only seems to come right on the school run time.....and I mean literally.

left for school this morning a 8.30.....sun was out and I needed sunglasses.
Driving along and it starts to spit, park, and still only slightly spitting....

get into the playground, and heavens open!!.

tis the same at the end of the school day too!

is there a little man there watching and waiting for us to be cought unawares????

Yes!

I have a 15 minute wait between collecting dd1 and dd2. If it going to rain at all in any day, it will always be in that 15 miutes.

I knew it.....someone thinks so too!!!!

I honestly reckon that the only time it rains is then.......and don;t you find, if there if an afterschool club one day, it will ignore the normal school run time, and do it when we collect later???

grrrr

soggy grrr

Oh absolutely! Its been the same here for the 8 years that I've been doing the school run. My particular favourite, which we still talk about, was in the middle of summer. Really hot, sunglasses, shorts, vest tops, flip flops the lot. I had a mindee in a buggy, and thankfully the rain cover was still on it, because the heavens opened and it was hail stones the size of golf balls. Freeezing cold too! I just had to put my head now and go for it. I had to keep my sunglasses on to protect my eyes! When I got to school, I calmly stood next to my friend, pulled my sunglasses onto my head and said, 'has it been raining!' I looked like Alice Cooper, with makeup all down my cheeks!

Yes, I've been trying to work out for ages if there's a metereological reason that means if it's going to rain in a day, it'll be around 3pm. At our school, if it rains at morning drop off, the kids are allowed in early, so of course it NEVER rains in the morning.. only at 3.30

ours are allowed in early too, if raining in the morning, but it only works if it actually starts raining that bit earlier.

BUT

it doesn;t......it waits until right before they open the doors to ring the bell and THEN the heavens open.

and more often that not, tis when I don;t have my raincoat either....[sob]

Oh god yes - although interestingly it mainly happens at just the home time run here so maybe we have some brownie points accumulated that you don't?

Our infant school sometimes lets them out early if it is raining....but the juniors don't so we just have to wait even longer in the rain then.

That's weird, where i live it almost always stops raining completely precisely at school run times. It's always amazed me. I thought it's bcuz of atmosfr heating up due 2 extra car engine exhaust.

I used to think that someone up there wanted to make parents wet at school run time {when DS was in primary} but now he is senior school he walks home without being picked up

We asked for a shelter like a bus shelter to be put up so we could wait somewhere dry - but it never appeared

But I think you may have something in the timming theory when we were in Fiji a few years ago it would rain really hard for 10 mins at 3pm every day

So it would go from hot sun, blue sky to thick clouds and heavy rain and then 10 mins later hot sun and blue sky again.

It was very wierd

Happens to me as well - rain in the morning for school - will stop when I'm home & then rain when I collect them. Don't fight it - just prepare for it!!
