AIBU?

To not want a Rottweiler for my Son-In-law? I'm sure dd could do better...

5yo dd has spent ages drawing her wedding dress, bridesmaids dresses, cakes etc. for her impending wedding...to a massive cuddly rottweiler

This is a bit worrying
How will he support her?

She will end up being a WOHM while he sits on the sofa watching dog borstal in his string vest, won't she?

OK well maybe he will work for the police. She will have to live in a kennel, but hey, at least it'll be secure.

Just make sure it is not an unqualified rottweiler but one who had had some training.

If it had been a handsome Red Setter type that would have been completely understandable - but a Rottweiler? Hard to know what the Mother-of-the-Bride outfit should be in those circs. Something appropriately hard .

We have a perfectly good real Ridgeback downstairs with whom dd could have a civil partnership (she's a girl)

Hmmm- a pyschotherapist could have a field day trying to unravel your daughters logic behind wanting to marry a Rottweiler.

May have ginger kids though if she marries a red setter - sorry!

CD, you are a species-ist
and an unemployed-ist
as long as he's prepared to raise the pups while your daughter's at work, then he can stay at home if he wants
even rottweilers have a soft side

I bet the Groom's mother will be a real dog.

I have to admit that I amuse myself by classifying all of DD's boyfriends as dogs - so far she's had an Old English Sheepdog (hairy and loyal) a Red Setter (very pretty but totally dumb) an Afghan hound, or possibly a Borzoi (long nose, long blond hair, rather posh) a Rottweiler (looked as if he ought to be wearing a studded collar) and a Jack Russell (never stopped yapping)
I have so far been unable to decide on a classification for the current one, which is probably just as well.
