dd has done really well, and after initially being put in the lower band at school, has worked blardy hard and got herself into the upper band.

AIBU to contact school and ask that when she changes classes in January that she is not placed with
a) the girl who bullied her throughout primary school and
b) her old bf from primary when they will just sit there and chat away like they did for 6 years of primary education.

BTW there are 6 classes to chose from

YANBU for a)
After 4 years of bullying from a girl in my dd1's class, I did go the the primary head and ask that when she went to secondary that they were NOT in the same class. All other accounts had not been passed on from year to year.

They are not in the same class.

b) It takes 2 to tango!

Oh absolutely Wotz I am by no means heaping the blame on old bf, they were as bad as each other. I just dont want them to follow same pattern in High school

I am sure they will be so busy at high school (so different my dd1 has found out) that they won't get the chance to chat.

I would let them keep the friendship, it helps them in the big new bad school, until they meet new friends and make new relationships.

You will probably get a form where you can indicated whether there are particular reasons for your dd to be in a particular form or not. We thought long and hard and in the end didn't ask that dd not be in the same form as the girl who had bullied her in a low level way since reception in order to let them both have a fresh start. She wasn't put in the same form - and it turned out that her primary head had tipped the secondary off about the situation anyway!

I requested that my DS3 was not put in the same House as DS2 because I didn't want him to have the same Y7 teacher.

They put him in a different one.

there may well be a form that the teacher has to fill in and there might be a box for such recommendations. So if you feel stronlgy - and your dd agrees with you - it is worth letting the school know, yes

YANBU for the bullying but YABU for the other.

Besides their form groups will not necessarily be the groups they are taught in.
