AIBU?

When they delivered my shopping on Sunday the driver had given my receipt to the previous customer. My full name, address, telephone numbers are on the receipt.

I contacted Ocado to ask if they could contact th eother customer and ask them to dispose of receipt (basically make them aware that they are aware a mistake was made). Ocado have only just called me back and said that there is no way the other customer can access my bank details. I tried to explain that it isnt just that that would be of concern, but the fact that a complete stranger has my full name, address and telelphone numbers (if i didnt care who had them i wouldnt be ex-directory). I said that it is a breach of data protection act to give my details out to another customer. The lady said they are trying to contact the other custoemr but dont know when they will be able to. and a bit

I am sure this other customer really doesnt give a shit hoot about having been given the wrong receipt and have already disposed off. Thing is i just dont feel very comfortable about it.

Well it should be very easy for customer services to contact the other customer, so it sounds like they were trying to fob you off. Threaten to report them to someone if they don't do it or go further up the pecking order.

Well, obviously it's a bit careless of the Ocado driver but I think YABU. Your full name address and telephone number is easily accessible by loads of people even if you are ex directory.

Personally I wouldn't be too bothered but if you are, make a fuss.

what are they going to say to the other customer..."ooh hello mr blah, we gave you the wrong receipt the other day, we'd really appreciate it if you didn't use any of the personal information on that receipt".......
They probably have no idea where it is, that's why you're being fobbed off. No one cares or understands your problem with it.
What do you expect them to do about it?

Ocado gave me someone else's receipt a couple of weeks ago - have to say I wasn't interested in their address or phone number but did have a good nose through what they had bought

I think YABU, it was obviously a mistake. What do you expect them to do to rectify the situation?

I guess I am annoyed more by carelessness of personal information. Probably due to the fact that in my job if we gave out address etc we would be in trouble. Personal data etc.

I am not so annoyed it is eating away at me, but I am annoyed that there is so much personal information on the receipt so that when/if mistakes happens that this information is then shared.

I wouldn't be happy either and I think you should make Ocado aware they need to be more careful.
