Tabloids reporting on baby with Harlequin Icthyoisis *distressing*

I'm not going to link. It's just come up on my newsfeed from the Mirror, and it's in the Sun as well but no other papers that I can see. The story contains DOZENS of photos of a baby with HI. The photos are really disturbing. The reporting is that the mother (in India) is refusing to feed the baby and she's not expected to live more than a couple of days. I have questions. Is this some kind of faked story and that's why the real media hasn't picked it up? And if not, who on earth thought that taking and publishing those photos was in anyone's best interest? It's so desperately sad and I do wish I'd not seen it. Please be warned if you google, it's very upsetting. I'm hoping someone can tell me it's a fake thing that the gutter press has run with without checking.
