To not trust the baby monitor temp?

Monitor says 18 degrees, 'perfect' room temp according to baby guidelines. But I just went to check on her and the room feels really cold. Chilly. I struggle to believe it's 18. I felt the back of her neck and it's Luke warm. She is sleeping very soundly.

My 'baby' is now 2 but I STILL obsess over room temperature!! So I need some reasurrance!

1. Will a toddler wake if too cold?
   
   
2. I hate the thought of her being cold so I've chucked an extra blanket over her. She now has a 2.5 tog sleeping bag and 2 soft fleecy blankets (both synthetic). Will she now over heat?! Do toddlers chuck off a layer if too hot?
   
   I've got 2 hot water bottles in with me. It just feels generally much colder tonight!

She'll wake if too cold. Luke warm sounds ok. Don't worry, she's 2, she won't overheat like a small baby might

18 does feel a bit chilly but should be ok for sleeping. I trust the baby monitor temp, but am aware of it's surroundings. On the windowsill it will read cooler. On a high shelf will be warmer. I try to get the child end as near to the bed or cot as possible, then the air temp is accurate for when the child is.

I find that 18 degrees is actually a lot colder than I thought! I doubted our Gro Egg, but it was backed up by the monitor thermometer, plus two separate thermometer cards!

She's 2 so well able right kick off blankets if she's too hot.

The recommended temp always felt downright cold to me, but it was the correct temp and she always seemed fine with it. Something to do with babies getting warmer much sooner than adults.

Omg I was going to make a post about this the other day! Our monitor said 18 degrees for our room but I felt really cold! I checked DS (4 months) and his belly and neck felt warmish so I left him, but I woke up twice in the night to check him. I really don't trust those bloody things either!

Tonight, we have the opposite problem. Our flat feels really warm, possibly im guessing all of our neighbours have their heating on. I've dressed him as normal but have opened the window. Will be paranoid tonight and check him quite often too :/

Its much better to be on the cool side than too hot. Id take the blankets off.

Our monitor consistently says it's 24 degrees no matter what so I struggle to believe it's accurate!

And ditch the thermometer.

As 70s kids before central hearing you could see your breath in your room and we seemed healthy enough.

Don't be analysing thermometers as they generally only show the temp they are mounted near. Go by your instincts.

They will be sharper.

I'm inclined to agree with you greengoddess i think I get a better sense of how warm it is based on how I feel, not on the thermometer.
