To be annoyed that my elderly father and his oh were spoken to like this

We are on holiday in wales and staying on a ccc site. There is myself my husband our 10 year old Son our disabled 8 year old son and 3 dogs on our tent.
I'm my dad's tent is himself who is disabled and his oh who is very disabled and their 2 small dogs.
We asked for adjoining pitches as a fall would require immediate help from myself or husband and we eat together and we look after each others dogs etc.
The warden man (think gestapo) keeps moaning at us saying my dad's car has to be parked between the tents but due to the fact that they put us in the far corner my dad and partner have to use the car to get to the toilet block.
Today the man shouted at my dad "I have told you twice before to move your car I won't tell you again"
As he shouted my dad's partner dropped one of the dogs leads and the dog walked towards the man who then shouted that the dog has to be on a lead, I quipped that the dog was on a lead and he the shouted at me that he meant tethered.
I really don't see the problem with the car as it's parked with consideration to others and we are in the corner of the field. But his attitude stinks.
In all the years of camping we have never had such horrible site wardens.
Now do we put in a complaint or not bother.
This thread was brought to you with the boredom of the rain and the enjoyment of the prosecco.

Can you move to a different site and tell them why you're leaving when you go?

That's really bad. I would assume they would be able to relax the rules a bit for your circumstances. I've been to a few of these sites and have never heard of any such rules!

Mentioning the Disability Discrimination Act might be a good idea in your complaint, which you should certainly make.

We are in the arse end of nowhere and due to go home Sunday anyway but we are leaving Saturday.
The company says they are "the friendly club"
Well maybe they need to tell Mr anully retentive then.

I think you should complain, by not making any sort of adjustment for someone with a disability (ie allowing the car to be parked in a different place) I think the warden is probably going against the terms of The Equality Act 2010.

Thank you. To be honest the bad weather has made us a bit grouchy but having to use your car to just use the toilet is extreme and they only parked it so it was easily accessible to them from their tent.

Yeah you should definitely complain. No one should shout at paying guests (I assume he doesn't own the place or I think his attitude would be quite different!!!) If that were me, I certainly wouldn't be going back, and if I owned the business I would definitely want to know why you wouldn't be returning. As a side note I Think it's ridiculous that your dad and his DP have to use the car to get to the TOILET!!! Even if you hadn't specified this when you booked (which I again assume you would have, especially with mobility issues) they would have seen this and should have tried to accommodate you better if possible.

We won't be coming back here.
We normally go to another site at cannock or to a private site on Mersea island. Who are both brilliant and very accommodating.
We thought that we was just being spoilt.
And to add to it the tiles in the toilet block are the beige ones people used in their kitchens in the early 80'stages they have cottages on them.

Well, the tiles are just insult to injury innit?

Seriously though OP, I'd complain, this man is in the wrong job.

Definitely complain, we are in the club and wardens are usually lovely. Don't let this one bad apple put you off.

I'd definitely just threaten to report him under the DDA; I've dealt with someone nasty like this in a hotel who spoke to my disabled friend in a very abusive way. I ripped him apart and as soon as I mentioned the DDA he backed off.

Why people have to be so horrible is beyond me. It's so unnecessary.

I shall walk the 1/8 of a mile to and from the toilets just to get a photo.
This man (must find a suitable name for him) won't put us off as we love camping.

If he complains again, tell him that this is disability discrimination under the Equality Act 2010 and you will be reporting him to his employers.

The car rule is due to strict fire regulations I believe.

There's just been a big and rather serious fire at a CC site so maybe wardens are a bit more jumpy than usual.

I'm in the CC and have been in the CCC before and to be honest they're both known for being quite strict with rules.

Report
PikachuSayBoo · 25/08/2016 19:55

On a CC site you have to be car, caravan, awning (if used) In that order on your pitch with the caravan back right corner to the marker peg.

God forbid you want to be awning, caravan, car as it won't be allowed. Not allowed caravan, car either.

And if your caravan is too far from the peg you may be asked to repitch.

6demandingchildren · 25/08/2016 19:58

We used to belong to the caravan club but then bought tents!!!!!
Can understand the rules for safety but the way this site is run is terrible my dad actually said if he wanted to be treated like this he would of joined the army instead

The car needs to be parked between the tents are a fire precaution. They are really strict about the fire rules and trust me if you see how quick a tent burns it's frightening. They ensure the cars are parked down the middle to create a fire break if needed.
That said the attitude a warden sounds bad. Did you request pitches near the toilets when booking?? They are usually quite accommodating. I would definitely complain to the club, they are the wardens boss.

When step mum to hopefully be booked it she did it over the phone due to her complex needs. The woman was lovely on the phone. She then as requested called again a few days prior to our arrival and everything was fine. When we got here gestapo male took over and has been quite nasty and abrupt.
Really think he needs to work at a NCP instead
