Right this is TMI but here goes...

Period came on Monday and it was horrendously painful which is very unusual.

Last night I had bad stomach pains and had diarrhoea for over an hour. Managed to get to bed about 1 this morning and today stomach pains are still there and I'm passing blood too Confused checked the NHS website which points to gastroenteritis. Other than this I feel completely fine. No sickness and no temperature. Still got stomach pains and some diarrhoea.

AIBU to think I've just ruptured something by straining a lot last night?

No other problems with my stomach and fit and healthy otherwise

What colour is the blood? Dark or bright red? If bright then you have probably just torn or burst a blood vessel straining and I wouldn't worry unless it's a lot. Dark blood means it's coming from further up the colon and you need immediate help so straight to A&E.

You would know if you had Gastroenteritis. It is horrendous. You puke nonstop or at least feel like you are going to and everything aches and you feel dizzy abd weak. Bit like norovirus only worse. You wouldn't be upright with gastroenteritis.

Go to walk in clinic now at the very least. That's not normal. But are you sure your passing blood and it's not being mixed when you wipe? Get it checked x

Probably something torn then. If there isn't a lot of it I wouldn't be too fussed in and of itself but with the stomach pains, keep an eye.

Yes bright red would indicate trauma to your anus. Dark bloody stools are far more worrying.

I would see if it lessens before bothering to get it checked if you feel otherwise ok ( nurse)
