AIBU?

To want to get some sleep?!

Posting here for traffic as I could do with some advice!

DS2 has been a relatively good sleeper - now 4 months old and usually waking a couple of times a night. Tonight he has barely slept, waking every few minutes and crying. He does sound sniffly so may be starting a cold. DS1 also had chicken pox last week.
Combined with this the little monkey has just learnt to roll on his front so every time he stirs slightly he rolls onto his front and starts crying - i wouldn't mind if he'd just go to sleep like that, but why roll onto your tummy if you don't want to be there?!?!
I've got the old olbas oil out onto a tissue, but any other ideas how I can get to sleep for more than a minute at a time?

Poor you! Mine is also 4 months and has started sleeping really badly. I'm so tired! Ive been trying a white noise app on my phone. If it's just a one off then you may need to accept you'll have little sleep tonight and settle down with him sleeping on you and a DVD on.Brew

Thanks Angelic. I'm sorry you're going through it too Flowers.

DS1 had a horrific 4 month sleep regression so I really hope it's not that. Annoyingly though that time a soon as DS1 could roll into his front he slept much better, this time it seems to make it worse! So frustrating!!

Calpol? Wrap him tightly so he can't roll?

Ds is 6 months and utterly rubbish at sleeping and now he can move more it's even worse.

I've had no more than 2 hours consecutively for weeks SadSad

I know exactly where you are coming from. I think this was the most challenging stage with my ds. He would roll onto his front over and over then get annoyed and cry. After a week of this, I was a mess.

what people on here suggested to me, and worked quite well, was to stop him being able to roll by putting rolled up towels either side of his body but below his arm pits. If you can do them under the sheet even better. It did cut down the night waking but not completely eliminate it but that might have been the four month sleep regression and my ds gas always been a bad sleeper.

Oh and for the cold, you can buy a calpol vapour plug in which helps mine if they are really blocked up. Calpol if you think they have a high temperature. Think the guidance on when to treat a temp has recently changed so look on the nhs website.

The bad sleep might just be that they have learned a new skill or doing a wonder week.

Either way, it will get better.

Thank you everyone! The rolled up towels sounds interesting, I will see what I can do although there's not a lot of room in his crib. I'm hoping that tonight will be a bit better, I'll have a look at the. Calpol plug in. He's not seemed to have a temp so I was a bit reluctant to go with actual Calpol.
