AIBU?

To eat dessert first? Light-heartedish 😉

Just got home from work hungry. Dinner is in the oven but won't be ready for 20 minutes or so. We each have a doughnut for dessert. I want to have mine first to tide me over. DH says it's a bit rude. Dessert is ment to be served after dinner so we can have it together

Aibu to eat it now not after dinner?

Keep yourself busy until dinner cooks, the doughnut will taste even better if its served with delayed gratification.

I used to eat fruit before my main meals, if I wanted fruit, which is apparently better for you.

We occasionally do this. I even let my 3 year old join in - it's good fun to feel a bit naughty sometimes!

we were on a weeks hols recently in Greece, and the predominantly russian contingent in the resort (apols if stereotyping) raided the desserts mainly the fruit before they had even started on the mains, we were like .... how do they know after eating the main that they will need that amount of cherries / strawberries etc... it was really odd DH swore they were stockpiling to take home as many many people were bring huge bags to the all inclusive buffet and fruit was disappearing at an alarming rate Shock

It's called upside down dinner here.

When you get back late, hungry kids..

Eat your doughnut.

Think it is probably better for your teeth too to eat pudding first, not leaving all that sugar coating your teeth! ( I know you've done it already, but have that excuse for next time) Wink

One of the many joys of being an old gimmer is that I no longer care about petty conventions. I have been known to order two desserts in a restaurant rather than the traditional starter, main, pud.
