AIBU?

Jumping up and down angry - FedEx

I can hardly believe it - FedEx have apparently delivered my parcel today at 2.10pm, except they haven't! It's signed for by someone I don't recognise - I've been in, next to the front door, all day and no-one's called here. I've called at the neighbours and I've driven to a similar sounding address but that looks locked up and a bit empty, so no-one there.

The company I ordered from seems fairly disinterested although I've just called again and asked them to speak to FedEx as they are their customer, not me. The order was £314 worth of stuff. I doubt I'll see it.

WIBU to raise a disputed payment with PayPal (payment method for this) at this stage? How can I prove that no-one by the name on the delivery slip was at this address at that time because the delivery email states that it was delivered to my address?

I'll wait until they call me back tomorrow morning. The company sounded disinterested because they couldn't offer a solution when I first called. Just told me to ring FedEx and ask my neighbours but when I asked what happens if I can't track it down, were very non-committal. It almost felt as though they didn't believe me, simply because FedEx stated that they'd delivered it to the correct address.

I would raise the PayPal dispute personally, especially if the seller seems disinterested. It's not their fault (assuming it was labelled correctly) but they should be proactive and helpful to you

No, it's not their fault - agreed. However, the company they sub-contract to deliver their goods is their responsibility. It's so frustrating. If I'd taken a package by mistake, I'd be delivering it to the correct address myself. And it must have been correctly addressed because when I look at the FedEx email they sent themselves confirming delivery, it's correct.

I've never raised a Paypal dispute before - does anyone know whether it's easily resolved should the goods turn up via the person they've been delivered to this evening, or tomorrow?

I don't want to set something in motion if it causes another headache! Thanks...

It's not your problem but the company you ordered from - their problem if the goods you ordered never reach you and they need to refund you. You can't chase FedEx- you are not their customer! Their contract to deliver the goods is with the company you ordered from.

Demand an immediate refund or replacement to be sent. Raise hell for being home all day for them too

I'll demand a refund tomorrow if they don't get an answer from the delivery person - although quite what good asking the person who delivered it to the wrong address will do, I don't know - s/he'll claim that they delivered it to my address. That's worrying because of the value of the order. How much care do they take of people accepting the delivery? I've accepted my DP's deliveries and they just take my name, so how can I prove that no-one by the name of 'Lewis' accepted at my address?

I'm not sure a replacement will be any good unless it arrives on Friday - I need this for a show next week so I'm stuffed without it, and massively, massively out of pocket. Fuck. This has a massive impact for us and could mean that our business fails. Too close to the wire but so much has gone wrong this last week and we are helpless to fix it.

A lot of delivery firms now do photos of where they dropped?

Call the company and ask them to sort it out. If you now need a refund then ask for one. Don't phone up and shout and scream, you will find that they are less willing to help.

Frustrating as it is I very much doubt that your business will fail because of this. Shit happens. Chill !

This isn't going to help you, but something similar happened a few years ago with me and FedEx and resulted in the courier turning up at my door randomly with the person she'd left the parcel (no address just a phone number missing one digit) with a few weeks later and calling me a liar. It was all a bit nasty. I now specifically don't order if the courier is FedEx and I need it in a specific timeframe.

I also used to need to courier documents abroad frequently for work and ended up changing courier because FedEx often enough ended up in a problem. I get that every system has flaws etc, but I don't understand how this company has such a good reputation - I think it's down to their marketing years ago.

Thanks all. Bit of a training issue with FedEx. Apparently they had a delivery a few doors down and whilst delivering theirs said "I have another parcel for you".

The elderly couple there take in parcels for their daughter, so didn't even look at the label until this morning when they realised that it wasn't theirs. They couldn't carry it to me because it's 25kg! I've now got it, but that kind of thing could cost companies A LOT of money - this was hundreds of pounds worth of stuff. Idiots.
