Godson has got everything I can think of, because his parents are quite big on latest clothing and toy brands… So what do you buy a child like this? :-D

Books, or tickets for a day out somewhere. Could you take him out for the day, or for a shopping trip to toys r us and McDonald's as a birthday treat

A Thomas-themed day out at your local steam railway. They dress up a steam locomotive as Thomas and some bloke as the Fat Controller. Both mine thought it was amazing. The Watercress Line and Bluebell Line both do it, I guess others do too.

A football and a box of Maltesters. My fail safe child gift 😊

Books! Always an underrated present in my opinion. How a large set of Peppa Pig or similar from The Book People?

Another vote for books or the gift of your time. Or perhaps special day out, but something different. The seaside, perhaps, or a walk in the woods looking for creatures under fallen logs.

Does he have a Duplo or Playmobil collection you could make a modest addition to?

Playmais. Brilliant craft thing, I've never met a four-year-old who didn't love it. And it doesn't even matter if they already have it, because more playmais is only a good thing.

Books, giant case of twistables crayons, dressing up costumes, outdoor toys - footballs/ football nets, hula hoops, cheap scooter, frisbee.

I'd go for a lego junior set, its for age 4+ so he should be ready for it now but probably won't have much already.

I find websites like WickedUncle good for presents for my nephews when I haven't got a clue (which is most of the time!). They have gifts broken down by age and gender.

Kinetic Sand? Sands Alive?

Probably one of those two. I can vouch that they are both a lot of fun.

A slide. Doesn't matter if they've no garden, it can be used indoors. Seriously, you can't go wrong with a slide. A slide would definitely be the best present ever. The child will absolutely love it.

But if you really, really don't want to get then a slide then I suppose a swing would be the next best present. Steer clear of seesaws. Especially if the child doesn't have a close in age sibling.

Day out - go to Build a Bear and buy him a bear, followed by lunch and maybe a film (if he's ok with the cinema and able to sit for that long)

My sister did this for my boys for their 5th birthday and they loved it 😀

Perfect combination of your time and an actual gift to take home at the end of the day 😀

Hmm, not sure a slide would be appreciated by everybody (IMO!) because if we got one, we've only got a small house and a garden so not really anywhere to put it!
Great if they've got a garden though! Smile
For 4 year olds I'd go for crayons, colouring books, Lego, vouchers for places such as Argos or Toys are Us so they can choose their own present, or Mr Potato Head.
Everyone loves a Mr Potato Head! Grin

No idea but I just looked at Wicked Uncle - never heard of it before - and I spent 30 quid I wasn't looking to spend 😮
