It is painful and itchy as hell. The one good thing is that athlete foot spray works pretty much instantly at taking away the majority of the itch.

I could cheerfully chop my toes off at the moment. Honestly don't know how it am going to work on Monday. My job involves a lot of walking. Decided a bottle of beer is needed, for medicinal purposes.

I sounds horrible and if it's more painful than standing on an upturned plug or running your toes over while opening a door then have another beer and Flowers

If your toes have split and it is v painful keep an eye out for infection. I had that last year and it was worse than childbirth. I had to have antibiotics for the second time in my whole life.

Urghh. I've suffered sporadically since I was a teen. The itching is so bad it can wake me in the middle of the night.

Thanks GhoulWithADragonTattoo I had cellulitis earlier this year so I am keeping a very close eye on it.

Tessticklesyourfancy (love your user name) thanks for the flowers Blush. Wasn't sure whether to drink the beer or roll it under my toes. Decided to drink, would be a waste of energy to put it back in the fridge.

Is athletes foot contagious like thrush? Don't give your DP their slippers back if it is.

Flowers for your sore feet.

I sometimes find that a wee bit of cotton wool soaked in tea tree oil and taped between the toes works well. Leave it there for a few days

I feel for you. Have you tried calomine lotion? When I fell in a toxic puddle last year (think lovely countryside walk/farm waste/cow shit) I ended up with AF and uber scaly toes. I slathered my reptilian feet with moisturizer and calamine at bedtime. Relieved it for a bit.

Not sure about the worst pain ever...that for me, belongs to my pregnancy piles. (Wincing at the memory)

EnidButton yes, it is contagious. DP never wear slippers so he's safe.

Tea tree oil. Anti fungal and anti bacterial.

I use T for toes foot powder from lush and the difference in a month is pretty damn miraculous. I've had chronic athletes foot for over 30 years and this is the best stuff ever.

Yep, tea tree oil. Hurts like buggery when you first out it on if your are split. But worth it.
I'm also known to blow the hair drier, on a cool setting, over my toes.
And sleep with rolled up toilet paper between your toes to dry them out more.
Hot wash all your socks, and be careful with those slippers. You might reinfect yourself.

Try the medicated talc, it's less messy and more soothing than the cream. The spray is horrible - so painful.

I feel for you, I used to get it all the time and it was so sore.

Get the athletes foot powder and put it in your shoes to make sure you kill it off. I use the powder after washing to make sure my feet are properly dry as well.

YABU. An infected nail + a bit of loose nail that had been left under the skin after nail surgery was ten times worse than athletes foot.

Try the "Once" product. Not sure if we are allowed to name specific products on here. Anyway, you can google and I am sure it will come up.
You treat the athlete's foot once with this super product and it clears up pretty quickly. It means you don't have to keep faffing on with creams and so on.

But yes, it is horribly itchy and painful.

Can you use tea tree oil on a fungal nail infection?

I am going to be controversial and throw "standing on a bra hook" into the ring as a contender for most painful foot pain ever. I couldn't walk for weeks!

Littleorangecat · 06/06/2016 12:28

Don't let it get near your toe nails!!! Speaking from bitter experience here and sporting x2 disgusting fungally infected nails which is horribly hard to treat.
