To think there is a place reserved in hell for people that don't consider those behind them at concerts?

Won't say where I was last night but people sat on others shoulders in front of us at what was otherwise a great gig so I couldn't see anything. I'm almost 6 foot tall too.

YANBU!!! I went to my first standing concert a few weeks ago and couldn't see anything at all, i am 4ft 11 but even my 6ft DH couldn't see much more. Plus the guy in front of me was waving his arms about after squeezing in infront of us. Kept thinking he was going to hit me!

sonlypuppyfat Mon 30-May-16 16:25:23

It's right up there with seat kickers at the cinema

RattusRattus Mon 30-May-16 16:29:30

And people videoing the whole event with bloody great big iPads. angry

whirlygirly Mon 30-May-16 16:31:21

Was it big weekend? Dp and I were both saying how irritated we'd have been during that Coldplay set.

Likewise people who talk all the way through a gig. Why pay the money if you're not going to watch? Took great pleasure in asking someone to be quiet last year. She was so surprised it actually worked smile

I went to see Lionel Ritchie in Vegas a couple of weeks ago and someone a few rows in front of us insisted on standing when no one else was. Polite requests from others for him to sit down were ignored, until I bellowed in my full on Glaswegian accent "Haw!!!!! Arsehole!!!! Sit the fuck doon!!!"

My DH was mortified, but hey, it worked!

This is one of the reasons I usually go for tiered seating at concerts. I'm 5 foot so when standing on a level floor I usually can't see much. So, even though most concerts involving standing/dancing, even in seated areas - at least with tiered I can usually still see something smile

When I do standing I usually end up having to stand further away to be able to see a bit or much much closer - those my days of trying to get a front row position are probably long over tbh!

Even though I am short I wouldn't sit on shoulders - not fair on others behind you.

YANBU!! Especially those people who wear massive hats (where's wally style) or put their hair up right on top of their heads - completely unnecessary and thoughtless.

Also, I never quite got over the guy who took his shirt off and stood on the chair in front of me at an Oasis gig at Wembley - all I got to see for the last half an hour was his sweaty, flabby, hairy back jiggling up and down sad

Lovecat Mon 30-May-16 16:40:05

YES!!

I say this as a shortarse who can be standing there with a perfect view of the stage at a gig and be guaranteed to have the tallest bloke in the place and all his mates come and stand in front of her at the exact moment the band strikes up... it's like I'm a magnet or something... ffs...

People who sit on their friend's shoulders at gigs are just arseholes, plain and simple. Death is too good for them.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es Mon 30-May-16 16:40:27

And people who drench themselves in headache inducing perfumes before seated events when you can't get away from it.

BestIsWest Mon 30-May-16 16:43:16

God yes, I hate this too.

laylabelle Mon 30-May-16 16:45:54

lovecat know the feeling!! And plenty of other places to stand but no right in front!

That or end up watching through a phone! Adele called someone out on it at her gig and good on her! If wanted to watch it through a screen I'd done it on YouTube.

Cookingongas Mon 30-May-16 16:45:55

Yanbu! It's up there with Topknot twats at the theatre; in the line to get in; top knot spotted, all other theatre goers issue a collective sigh and share panicked glances at their tickets as topknot is seated ; the losers being those sat in d12 as topknot twat sits in c12. One more collective eye contact moment is exchanged , relief for the winners, and an understanding heat tilt nod to those unlucky fuckers seated behind the topknot twat.

dwinnol Mon 30-May-16 16:49:02

God yes, how dare people have hair, or wear purfume or even have a head? Thoughtless twats.

AnotherUsernameBitesTheDust Mon 30-May-16 16:51:04

They should arrange gig goers in height order like a school photo, then, as a short arse, I'd always be at the front. grin

ToxicBits Mon 30-May-16 16:51:40

The perfume one annoys me the most as it gives me a thumping migraine meaning I have to leave half way through

Shannyfanny Mon 30-May-16 16:54:34

that is rude

Snowwhiteandrosered Mon 30-May-16 17:03:49

I hate this too. I'm only 4ft 11ins tall and always seem to have tall people standing in front of me blocking my view. Mind you a certain singer caused an uproar in my city when he ranted at the stewards who were trying to stop people dancing and blocking the view of those who had paid extra to sit in the top quality area.

gunsandbanjos Mon 30-May-16 17:06:20

I agree! I'm a short ass but generally buy front row tickets or queue early for general admission and 9/10 I'm in the front row so it makes no difference.

I did go to one gig and due to delayed trains ended up maybe 7/8 rows back stuck smack bang behind a bloke about 6ft 4 tall and about 4ft wide, after the first song he turned round and said, you can't see anything other than me can you? He squeezed me in front of him that was very kind and much appreciated.

MrsBruceBogtrotter Mon 30-May-16 17:06:44

I think complaining about tall people in front of you is a bit off; they can't help being tall - do you want them to crouch, or forever stand at the back? People on shoulders are fair game though, it's thoughtless and obnoxious. I silently cheer if someone hits them with a drink.

NotCitrus Mon 30-May-16 17:07:57

Fortunately the drunken girls who kept standing up in the seated part of the last gig I went to were a few seats to the side of me, but they still were in my view and bloody annoying.

I suspect the person behind them who spilt a pint over them did it on purpose and don't blame them at all!

KidLorneRoll Mon 30-May-16 17:09:48

Sorry, but sometimes at a gig you just don't get a perfect view and it's unreasonable to demand everyone stands in order of height. If you can't see, move or get their earlier to be nearer the front.

lalalalyra Mon 30-May-16 17:12:33

I hate folks that are deliberately rude. We were at a concert a while back and the guy in front kept sitting on the edge of his seat while it was still folded (hope that makes sense) which made a huge difference to what those behind him could see. He was the front row of the tier so no excuse.

I do get pissed off sometimes when I go places with DH. Some of the things people say about him are vile - he's 6'7, we never book into the front row and if we have a choice of seat we'll usually book the back (which is great for me at 5'1...) yet if we get allocated a seat somewhere random and someone ends up behind him it's apparently acceptable to call him a lanky cunt and to huff and puff making snide comments the whole time. He can't help being tall. He deliberately never goes to standing places as no matter where he stands someone always complains.

girlwithagruffalotattoo Mon 30-May-16 17:13:02

Yanbu. It's called the 13th circle. Way behind everyone else :D

Liiinooo Mon 30-May-16 17:16:19

I am just over 5ft tall and when I say I have 'seen' most of the big names of my era (Genesis, Led Zep, Peter Gabriel, Thin Lizzy, Simple Minds etc - see how old I am), what I mean is I have heard these bands play live whilst staring at people's backs and bums. The dawn of the big screens at the side of the stage was a game changer for me.
