We have lived together for 3 months. It is her flat- she advertised the room on Spare Room.

She is unemployed (made redundant a year ago so she says) Drinker and i'm pretty sure she is a drug taker. Police turned up to "chat" to her a few weeks ago but she told me that she witnessed an assault and they wanted more information from her. I was told later in the week by a co worker (we live in a very small town) that she was a suspect in the assault (she was at the club where it happened and a few people had seen her hanging about) but clearly the police didn't have enough evidence to arrest her. She has had some shall we say "colourful" characters visit her here. Her parents come round every now and again- I believe they brought the flat for her.

My Mum came round this evening to give me the money towards my grandparents anniversary gift which i'm supposed to be going out to buy tomorrow. I left it under my mattress, went for a shower and it's gone.

She has now dissapeared. Shall i call the police?

Yes call probably 101 not 999. But you should report it, doubt if your get it back though she's probably already spent it on drugs/alcohol.
Could you move in with your Mum for a while? Where you living doesn't sound too good.

I'm so sorry .

You could and probably should and in your situation I think I would, but not sure how it'll help, she's probably working her way through it right now and unless the notes were marked, you'll never prove it. Was it def just you and her in the flat when you went for your shower? Does anyone else have a key?

Find somewhere else to live asap (can you leave this weekend?)

Def post a review on Spare Room if you can leave comments.

Unfortunately, I think your comments about her lifestyle are irrelevant, although they explain why you don't trust her.

Again, I'm so sorry

Report it. It wouldn't occur to me not to.

Report it of course you should!

I would also make sure you're not subletting.

Did you mention any money to her? Very odd that she randomly checked under your mattress when you were still in the house!

Yes, report it.

Do you have anywhere that you can go?

Horrible - you need to leave straight away and report it to the police. From an evidential perspective there's probably little that you can ( legally) do. So sorry x

Very odd that she randomly checked under your mattress when you were still in the house!

it's a typical place for people to store money (when they aren't in their own stable home) and she probably knew that

She must have known you put it there. Did she see your Mum give it to you? Definitely call the police but make extra sure it's gone first!

Yes ring the police.

If she is bringing home dodgy people/dodgy people are visiting your home, you really need to move to a safer and more stable place!

Yes. Where is she now?

Called the police and they are sending someone over when they can. Might be a few hours apparantly so clearly not a priority. Tried calling and surprise surprise no answer.

I took ny Mum straight to my room. Got a feeling she must of be lurking around the door listening in.

Clearly it is not a priority of a Friday night.

You have reported it it is now on record.

OP - I'm assuming you can't just move out straight away, so I would buy a latch and padlock for your bedroom door to stop anything else going.

Actually OP, you could say you had a camera/webcam running in the room and it has caught the moment she nicked it, she may panic and confess (record the conversation on your phone).

A massive long shot I know, but it may work.

I hope you are ok OP.

Not sure the police will have enough evidence to charge her, but at the very least a visit from them may make her sweat for a bit
